RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Byatil - 05-01-2011 09:21 PM I didn't notice this post in time to vote for Spooks or RA, sadly ![]() RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Byatil - 26-01-2011 08:48 PM Rather outraged to see that "Waterloo Road" has beaten "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock" to the top spot, as well as "I'm a Celebrity" beating "QI"?! How can this be? ![]() RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Forever Secret - 26-01-2011 08:52 PM I was just annoyed the Waterloo Road even made it, I despite and hate that show with a passion... annoyed Dr Who or Sherlock didn't get it when they more thasn deserved it! And even more annoyed that Ashes to Ashes and Spooks never made the short list as well as PF and RA not making actor shortlists... *Hits head against brick wall* whats the world coming to eh? ![]() It's all about popularity, If it were about how good a show was, then I don't think Waterloo Road would have gotten any wher near it RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Naivety - 26-01-2011 09:00 PM Waterloo Road is nothing more than a soap and should never be in the same category as Sherlock or Ashes to Ashes or Spooks. Maybe it's time for shows like Waterloo Road, Casualty and Holby City to fit into one category, and then the more challenging, well written shows like Spooks to be in another. They could be called 'Crap Drama' and 'Stylish Drama'! RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Tea Lady - 26-01-2011 09:17 PM Waterloo blinking Road !! In the words of the great Sir HJP, "shoot me now." RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Forever Secret - 26-01-2011 09:37 PM (26-01-2011 09:00 PM)Naivety Wrote: Waterloo Road is nothing more than a soap and should never be in the same category as Sherlock or Ashes to Ashes or Spooks. "Shoot me, Shoot me now" ![]() Seems like no one has won that I really wanted to win ![]() I mean come on Waterloo Road even getting that far was annoying! Totally true, there should be a new category made just for those 'types' of shows. Just allow the good stuff like Spooks to get recognised and win what it deserves ![]() No one I now personally really watches Spooks, they watch stuff like Waterloo Road, which is why it gets votes, (Stuff like WR is watched by young people around my ages, late teens) its a popularity contest, its like TV brain candy, being forcefed bad drama with a spoon, so my reaction to when they say "Spooks is rubbish, Waterloo Road ect is good" I just reply with "Excuse me, Spooks won a BAFTA... 10 Series commissioned, class writting and actors, actually Oscar nominated actor in PF... have you got that on Waterloo Road?... nope" ![]() God whats happened to class and brilliant television? RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Byatil - 26-01-2011 09:44 PM It's really sad :/ I wish people would recognise that fairly intelligent drama is a good deal more interesting than the mindless crap the beeb saves for Wednesday evenings. It seems we're a dying breed! I never understood the obsession with shows such as "Eastenders" or "X Factor" myself. The former is only good to watch for a few laughs at how ridiculous the plot-lines are that week, whilst the latter seems to be focussed around falsely glorifying anyone with a scrap of talent? ![]() I think this may be part of the reason as to why I don't watch much TV these days! ![]() RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Forever Secret - 26-01-2011 09:53 PM I actually watch Eastenders... but its so bloody depressing! Its the only soap I watch and I only watch it because my mum sticks it on the box. But in shows like X Factors, I'm a Celeb, I don't understand it, I find it more of a comedy than talent show, seeing people makes fools off themselves. Nah, the only TV I watch is good Drama's. Spooks, Ashes, Outcasts when it begins. Why can't shows like Spooks, Good shows with good writters, well acted and un-wooden and not depressing story lines (like the soaps) become more recognised? I noticed Spooks probably attracts a more mature audience, I feel like one of the youngest to watch it, everyone else I know my age doesn't, its a real shame, the fan base could grow if more people watched good TV ![]() Maybe it's because you need to watch, listen to every line and actually think to watch shows like Spooks... and the majority of audience who vote want brain candy? RE: National Television Awards 2011 (NTA) - Byatil - 26-01-2011 10:08 PM (26-01-2011 09:53 PM)Forever Secret Wrote: I noticed Spooks probably attracts a more mature audience, I feel like one of the youngest to watch it, everyone else I know my age doesn't, its a real shame, the fan base could grow if more people watched good TV Aha, don't worry, I'm in the same position! I have one friend who watches Spooks (although I think she does so mainly for the RA eye-candy) and another friend who watches some good drama (eg. Accused, Life on Mars etc... sadly not Spooks) but that's about it. That's why I joined this forum actually; I was desperate to discuss Spooks with someone, but no-one I know really watches the show ![]() Yeah, that's what I'd assume. People want something quick and shocking to keep them entertained, preferably something they don't have to think about too much after a long day at work ![]() Here's the full list of 2011's Winners, if anyone was interested: Serial Drama: EastEnders Drama: Waterloo Road Newcomer: Ricky Norwood Comedy Programme: Benidorm Entertainment Presenter: Ant and Dec Factual Programme: Top Gear Entertainment Programme: I'm A Celebrity... Reality shows seem to be popping up everywhere these days. |
