To be honest, I think it was just a case of getting angry with someone who almost always gets it right. When you're used to the best, anything less than that tends to irk.

I think there is a backwards vote of confidence in there. In response to Malcolm's "This is the worst day of my life!" Harry's says, "The day isn't over yet. Fix it!" Because Harry knows Malcolm can and will fix it. I say it to my students all the time: quit yer bitchin' and fix it!

Funny TL! I liked Adam's answer to why he is reading Jane Austen: "She noticed things." I would add that she noticed completely mundane things. The choice of this particular novel is interesting in that the heroine, Fanny Price, is an observer. She is the poor relation sent to live with her rich relatives. She is the only of JAs heroines who is out of her comfort zone: socially speaking. She is an outsider looking in. She is also the heroine that seems to rankle readers the most. She is criticized as weak, timid and insecure - by readers and other characters in the book. But in the end she is found out to be the strongest character of them all. I thought that pertinent to Adams state of mind at that moment.

Ooh! Wow. Good thought. Hadn't really put that one together as a possibility before. I had always associated it with Adam himself in that he knows he is not in as much a delicate emotional state as everyone seems to think he is - whether its true or not, its what he thinks. "Ordinary common grief." He and Fiona did have a lot in common....

just rewatched this ep last night1 it really cemented the relationship with ruth and Adam for me. she was ready to risk everything fo him. but i also thought that harry had known all along that she would tell him about the op.
