In all the ambiguity at first about what might have happened to him, did we ever find out exactly what happened? I know there was a body delivered with a desecrated British flag, and I think they were going to have to use dental records to identify it, but did we ever find out for certain that the body was Zaf's?

I don't think it was Zaf's..... I REALLY hope it wasn't...

it was zaf they used dental records did they not! cos adam didnt think it was him untill he was told it def was! but we dont find out what happened to him

I'm still reeling over what happened to Zaf! I think they were satisfied in the end that it was him... as best they could be. My version of events - He was infected with the plague mimicking virus, shot, kidnapped and tortured for intel, sold on to another group and tortured again, then killed. Most horrific spooks death ever!

It is... Zaf didn't even make the top 5 in the poll the deep fat fryer one won. I've already written about this on my blog.. but I don't think anyone has suffered in death as much as Zaf. Its only because we don't see it on screen that it rarely rates a mention as one of the worst deaths.

I'm with Skully on this one. Zaf was tortured, for MONTHS, and died alone. Probably after having given up various bits of information so that he hated himself as much as he possibly could.
Make no mistake about it, Zaf suffered terribly with no reprieve, no escape, no rescue.
He was completely alone for all that time and certainly when death came. And his final death came in a really nasty manner (via ligature) but was probably a great relief after everything else that had happened to him.
What has happened to other members of Section D wasn't pleasant, for sure. But they all happened pretty quickly. Zaf didn't get that and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
I've said similar things on the Zaf thread over the last months too, so I'm not reversing a previous position or anything.
Oh and yes. Zaf is definitely dead.

I also agree with Skully, I think Zaf's death didn't appear among the top 5 because we didn't actually watch it on tv (and thank god!). He must have been through an excruciating death. A slow death is the worst thing, in my opinion. I know the fat fryer was terrible and shocking but at least it was quicker. Torture is terrible, imagine being tortured to death...

i agree i would never have thought Zaf would have told secrets but i cant even imagine the amount of stress, pain he had to endure! and i asume he welcomed death. it was a horrible way to go
