Hope ok to post in this thread. It seems that you can download 9.1 from iTunes now for £1.89. I did this last year so I had a semi decent copy of each episode before the DVD came out.

Season 8 finale with Roz getting blown up....I still couldn't believe she was really gone for good. She was my favorite character and I will miss her! Beth is an interesting character and I like the interaction with Lucas. Loved their exchange at the airport.

Might be Ros's mother and her husband (Ros's step-father).

That's just my guess, I'm not sure.

I watched it over and over again to see if it was Ros made up to look like an old lady and attending her own funeral???? I couldn't tell. This show makes me read into everything or maybe I am just crazy??!! Wouldn't that be spookish if she was actually alive and will be back for season 10?????
Now this makes me laugh I,m sorry but i don,t thinks she,s coming back

Hi guys,

I just finished re-watching this ep. Does anyone feel slightly disgruntled at the closure of the Nightingale conspiracy? I do love the scene with the former HS and Harry, but I don't like that it wasn't explained enough. I've re-watched series 8 recently trying to figure it all out, but the former HS actions don't make sense.
Series 8 Spoiler: show
Like if the HS is part of the inner-circle, then why would he warn Harry about the existance of Nightingale? Also, the 4 billion paid into the HS account to 'force him' to resign - was he really getting paid 4 billion for his role in Nightingale? If it was part of the smoke-screen, then does he keep the 4 billion? the HS role in Nightingale just doesn't make sense! Angry

Any thoughts?? Huh

I will say something that I've always felt needed to be said since Series 9 aired.

Spoiler: show
The writers ended Nightingale with the old HS being the evil bad-guy for the same reasons that Lucas suddenly became psycho-killer. It was all for shock and awe. They could care less if the storyline made that much sense, but if it was shocking and exciting enough, then they went for it.

The HS did some sketchy things, but for the most part he was the "good" politician that even Harry himself had respected. But oh no, we can't have good decent politicians, so why not end Nightingale with the big shock that the old HS is actually a part of the conspiracy that he was warning Harry about! Which simply doesn't make sense why he would want to put himself out of office, or even warn Harry such an organization exists.

And just like Lucas's storyline, the sudden change feels tagged on and runs conflict against previous exhibited character traits.

It's just sad what they did.

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion - HellsBells - 11-12-2010 06:44 PM

I have never understood this sudden change in the HS, as mentioned why on earth did the HS ever mention to Harry about Nightingale if he was part of it? Although it did allow for some great acting from PF. How did they find the link to the HS, in 8.8, the team didn't know who was part of Nightingale but within a week or so they uncovered the HS was a member of Nightingale.
It did seem to end far to quickly and easily, but I guess the writers wanted to get away from the previous writers ideas and run with their own.

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion - Obsession - 11-12-2010 10:43 PM

Yeah, thats true. It's never really bothered me before this one. The fact that Nightingale didn't even start building until 8.4 bothers me too - there's so much they could have done with that storyline. Thcussing

But, like you say, why continue an old storyline, when you've got a new one. Only the 2nd time the writers have messed up a whole season for me, so I guess I shouldn't really complain. 2 out of 9 isn't bad.

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion - BoHenley - 11-12-2010 11:19 PM

Yes, Nightingale had so much potential, but it seems they weren't game to really run with it.

I assume the other messed series is S9? [tongue-in cheek here:] I thought S9 was totally feasible...for any viewer with the brain of a pencil (and I apologies sincerely to all pencils). No wonder RA's gone on to The Hobbit - some real fantasy.

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion - Obsession - 12-12-2010 05:20 AM

No, I haven't found any faults with S9 yet. The other one was S6, bit too convoluted (hope that's spelt correctly).
