I thought given the good previews and rather poor ones for Banks Spooks might have crept up.

As suspected ITV are putting the new Series of Whitechapel with Rupert Penry-Jones up against Spooks next week. Apparently last year Whitechapel was the most-watched crime drama.

Drat ITV, but at least Series 10 is in the bag!

ITV say that epi 4 of Spooks is the best yet this Season - it will be a corker if it's even better than epi 3!

Where do "ITV" say that Ep 4 is the best yet? What are they doing talking about Spooks anyway? Exciting though!

I fear Whitechapel will trounce Spooks - although (interesting fact alert!!!) it would never have rated so well last year if it hadn't been for the snow - it was on when most of the country was snowed in!!

Above 5 million is still good, if we get those sort of figures against Whitechapel I'll be ecstatic.

As an aside, you wait ages and ages for some decent programmes, then you get them all at once - Mondays now has Spooks, Whitechapel and Thorne on Sky 1 with David Morrissey. My new Sky HD box is certainly going to be earning its fee on Monday nights.

I just think that it is pathetic that ITV continues to act like this. Why put on two programmes at the same time, which roughly attract the same type of audience? Now I know most people will SKY+ or watch the other on iplayer, but still. It's not necessary.

I guess it's a good defence for Kudos though, if viewing figures do drop and Spooks still keeps on getting very good reviews. Do you think the BBC have something up their sleeve though? The only reason I say this is because of something I read in one of the TV mags. Pure speculation on my part also
Series 9.5 Spoiler: show
That there is a big name appearing in 9.5 and who's name did not appear on the scripts, it was kept that secret. There were rumours in the Summer that Stephen Fry may be in an episode. It this were true and his 1.8 million twitter followers tuned into Spooks, this would have an effect on Whitechapel in week 2. As I say, perhaps I am just hoping more than anything.

The BBC aren't stupid, they'll take iplayer ratings into account as well. ITV's online service is shite.

Consider this: brand new programmes are still beating the 8 series old Spooks back with a stick. They may be succeeding but not by much.

Stupid question time: Do those ratings mean that Spooks came in 2nd in the Mon 9pm slot, right? Where does it rate in the BBC roster in general?

Sorry, my bad I should have said TV Times.

May be the Beeb will show the odd trailer, for a change. I didn't see a single one for episode 3 after the end of episode 2. Don't they want to win the ratings war! The trailer's been made for Heaven's sake, why not air it?Thcussing

Article in the Independent today. More general than season 9 specific. Spoilers for past seasons if you have not seen them. Quite good that Spooks still generates this much "chatter."

i havent been lucky enough to see a single trailer actually on the telly :/
they should go back to having promos a few weeks before the series start to get people all excited and people who havent watched before to 'check it out'

A very good article and confirms what we all already know, Spooks is unique BUT it needs Harry!
