Well how can I think what a fantastic episode but hate it as well.
I want to smack the writers for what they are doing to Lucus. It is just destroying the character they gave us for two series.
Ruth is annoying me as well she is just too perfect.
Had to laugh at the American mentioning hobbitland

Thinking out loud:
Harry must know something is up as surely Malcolm would have warned him.
Malcolm moved because he either believed Lucas and moving was part of a pre-planned arrangement if he ever had to release the Albany file or because he knew Lucas was lying?
Calling Lucas John - not an accident?
Ruth is setting Lucas up .... maybe that's why she didn't accept Harry's proposal because she knew she would have to betray him and the team ultimately?
Might have to watch it again. Really enjoyed it but am fearful for Lucas, he seems desperate.
Good to see Dimitri, Tariq & Beth working as a team......more please!
So can't wait for next week.

They can't have possibly put out the whole "John" name-calling thing as a simple slip up, there has to be a reason behind it, there's always a reason behind everything Spooks writers do, and a big slip up like this one has to mean something.
So if Malcolm knew, then my guess is that Harry does too. I really hope it means my old-school Spooks is teaming up!

'John' is the most common name in this country. If you were going to make up a name on the spur of the moment, you would probably pick it. What shocked me most was that when Malcolm said it, Lucas put his hand on his gun. This may have alerted Malcolm to the fact that the visit wasn't real and so he gave him a fake file.
Incidentally, how did Lucas know to go to Malcolm's home address to fetch it? Did I miss something?

Maybe they are keeping the facade up. He may be John, but he is still Lucas to them.
I would think that if Malcolm knew something was wrong, surely he would have informed Harry.
I am really hoping my old-school Spooks get back together and take down Vaughn!

Three major questions need answering for me, after this super little episode.
1) Was that really Malcolms mother or was she MI5?
2) Did Lucas run over Malcolm's cat at the end? As he pulled up in front of the house at the end, a white cat ran out. It didn't appear from under Lucas' wheels. Now I know Lucas is quite happy killing Americans but to kill a cat, really is out of order *pens letter to Kudos*
3) Where did Malcolm get his jumper? It was lovely.
I think Lucas is in the **** to be honest. Whether he is being set up or what, he has let someone die. You can't go back on that. You can reverse the officer who got sent to prison, but not that.
I honestly believe Malcolm knew something wasn't right as soon as Lucas turned up by the look on his face when Lucas said Albany. My guess would be that Harry gave it to Malcolm and said if anyone comes looking for Albany other than me, we are in trouble, and give them the fake package. Malcolm had his mother there so had to act like it was all real. As soon as he handed over the fake package, Malcolm got out of there before Lucas discovered it. Malcolm will then probably hand the real file over to Harry.
I think Malcolm calling Lucas, John, was just supposed to catch us out for a moment. I don't think Malcolm knows anything.
Loved Tariq in this episode and I really believed he was having a temper tantrum. Also loved Dimitri calling Ruth, "Evershed." Ha ha...
I wonder who is going to pay to repair the Grid now, with all the budget cuts? Can't explain that one away as "MICE."
