Still a bit new to this site so hope I've picked the right orum in which to ask this. Also hope no-one will mind me asking a question about such an old character!
Whatever happened to Sam Buxton? As far as I know she is the only character whose exit from the show hasn't been explained in the story. Near the end of episode 3.10, after Danny is shot, Ruth tells Harry that she (Sam) has had to be put under sedation. And thats it; we never see or hear of her again! Or did I miss something?....

I think Harry sent her over to GCHQ after Danny was killed,
I've read Harry's diary, he said Sam didn't react well to Danny's death, and they needed stronger people in difficult times

I had been thinking just the same thing recently. She was becoming more involved and then never showed up again after Danny's death. The explanation was that she had taken Danny's death very badly and needed sedation - which did fit as there were stirrings of a relationship between them at one point. However she was never mentioned again after that throw away comment.
According to the BBC site she 'lacked the critical judgement needed to be the perfect MI5 officer. She has now left the service.' And her file is marked as closed.
The actress who played her, Shauna Macdonald, has been in a few other programmes and films since, but to be honest, none that I've really heard of.

Forever Secret is right - she was sent to GCHQ because she couldn't handle Danny's death. The information comes from Harry's Diary.

Thankyou everyone; that had been bugging me for so long. Ironically my wife bought me 'Harrys Diary' not so long ago, so the answer was sitting there on the bookcase the whole time!! Appreciate your help though!
