Ooh, interesting thought - the series ending with Harry becoming DG perhaps? But would he want the position this time round after indicating he didn't want it in season 3?

How could they possibly disband section D? Do we not need protection from terrorists any more?

That would vindicate Harry's decision and could leave their personal lives out of the spotlight so that they could get together without any hassle from the powers above them. Seemples!!

Really like this! I think I was looking for a way for Ruth to be instrumental in Harry's return by suggesting she persuades him, but this is better.
HOWEVER I agree with Silkie and Dodgosmall in hindsight
"I definitely want Harry as his old self, strong, confident and sure. I wouldn't want him to be persuaded to stay and then constantly doubting his ability to do the job." SO true. Plus a bit of the old sarcastic Harry to.

I am sure that the public funding cuts story will rear its head in Series 10. There are a lot of things this country needs, it doesn't mean we are going to keep them once the cuts come into force. They may merge departments, who knows?

Maybe this is the machiavellian plot behind the whole sorry matter. Get rid of Harry because he is just too good at stopping the terrorists. Then get rid of section D so no-one stops the terrorists. Then the terrorists can decimate the population of layabouts, students and welfare fakers that make up the country's population and bingo - financial crisis over. Genius. Tongue

Sorted! Smile

I do agree with you about Harry's character, though. I love Harry the most when he is being cold and ruthless. Like when he sorted out the HS in series 9.1 and also when he sorted out the oil baron in 9.2. But he's also fab when he's being ironic.

Oh yes. I love those scenes. And the sarcasm is deeply attractive - it shows a keen intelligence which is top of my list of sexy attributes!

Hey, maybe they'll once again try to create that "Ministry of State Security" Mace tried to install in episode 3.1. Under such a Ministry, the Security Services would be little more than a rubber stamp. Harry fought it successfully in 3.1, but now that he is the one in the spotlight rather than Tom, will he be able to do the same?

Good idea. Maybe that's the thing that'll put the fight back in him.

I'd just like to make a little plea on behalf of Sir Harry. You know how he does, on occasion, express a certain amount of irritation with the cousins? Well, I'd put money on it that if he was listing those irritations, one of them would be that they don't know how to spell whisky!

Now I don't want to offend any Americans here. They can not help that they have been brought up with some bloke called Jim as a corrupting influence. But Harry drinks Scotch, people, Scotch. And Scotch is most definitely spelt W-H-I-S-K-Y (so to speak!). I was actually sad enough to look this up on the internet and found that even in the US there was a 1968 government directive that stated this as the correct spelling for whisky. See this link below if you are interested!

And as for you Brits out there, shame on you if you get this wrong! So my (and Harry's) plea to all fan-ficers (now how do you spell that?) out there, is to please remember that the god (or the devil) is in the detail. And if in doubt, just say Scotch! Smile
