Also, as a non-Pom, I can definately tell the difference in accent between Equas, PP, Spooks, Blood & Oil...

So can I. I can tell there's a difference, but I wouldn't know whether the various accents are accurately portrayed. I have to say, though, that I don't think PF is all that great at doing an American accent. I can still hear the English accent coming through sometimes when he plays an American.

He played an American in Pearl Harbour and a few other things as well
When I heard his voice in PH, it just sounded so strange, not hearing him with his British accent sounded odd, but his American accent sounded pretty good

DSS - he's done a lot of work in America (IMO, not much of it is worthy of his talents). Look on the IMBD website - it lists all his work. Peterfirth.com also has all his work listed. It doesn't identify what accent he's doing though!
Check out "Chill Factor" - that's a must for a PF fan. Totally ropey (and you'll probably want to shoot Cuba Gooding Jr after 5 mins) but it's Peter running around in combat gear with a big gun, and an American accent. Easily available on DVD.
"When you coming back, Red Ryder?" is an early example of him with an American accent. I managed to download it from somewhere on the internet but can't remember where, unfortunately.
Some of us are swapping PF's work via the PF Swap Shop in the Spooks area - you'd just have to become a Spook to join in.

I haven't got round to watching Chill Factor or Red Ryder yet, but his worst accent to date for me is in Burndown. A slow southern drawl (at least I think that is what it is meant to be) and he also puts on a cowboy swagger when he walks. It's not the best I have to say. Sorry Peter.
I have just started watching Garden of Redemption. While Peter really isn't in it that much, his German accent is brilliant. He does actually look German and you would be hard pressed to think he wasn't, if you didn't know who the actor was. Not sure I would find it easy playing a SS torturing, nasty, officer type though. I guess it was a challenge.

Ah, Pearl Harbour, of course. My children have the dvd. Unfortunately I've never seen PF in it, because it acts as the best sleeping pill I've ever come across. I genuinely can't watch more than 15 minutes of it before I am comatose, however hard I try to keep my eyes open!

That sounds like a lot of his films, sadly! Another reason why Pleasure Principle is such unadulterated joy - blink and it's still him! Certain parts where you don't want to blink, of course.

Managed to catch Heartbeat today. mmmm - PF with sun bleached hair (longer and a bit fuller than now) and suntan. Lovely yellow shirt, not so sure about the high waisted grandad trousers though.... Anyway, I think here in this show is how I think he would speak when off duty. It's not a broad Yorkshire accent, (not like in oil and blood) but with a few little Yorkshire afflictions. So soft. Lovely
