Ooh that is great news for PF and for POGs! Looks like RJP's sojourn with PF in Spain is cancelled then.

Really looking forward to seeing this! I've actually read the book. It's about five inches thick in hardback, but it is a great book. Highly recommended! Earl Roland, from what I can remember isn't all bad, he came across as fair but tough to his tennants/serfs. He has a beautiful wife in the book who is very much in love with him. Unfortunately with all these mini series, the books are always better than the production, and they don't necessarily stick to the plot.

Cod-pieces? Angel

But seriously, doublet and hose. No gold ties. You may have to change your name to "SilkHose." Wink

I've no doubt PF will sport his hose most elegantly! Trying not to look forward to this solelyfor that reason. Smile

Very glad that this new project has come up as it bodes well for PF stepping into that "mature character actor" slot that Pete Posselthwaite has left vacant - still time for that Oscar, Peter!!

I had to smile when I read that PF might step into that “mature” character actor slot. Do you mean mature now – in that case I am surprised that there was no uproar from his fans – or in 10 years? To my annoyance my American husband looks up the biography of supporting actors in his “Character Actors” book. Why are character actors in the States considered supporting players and not featured actors? I agree with you that PF is Oscar-material.
PS: To be fair I get on my husband's nerves too when I ask him to correct my replies. "What are you doing, he asks, writing an essay or something." If only he knew.

That's a coincidence...I wonder if we live in the same town? Ken and Barbara are members of my local Labour Party, although I don't know them well... I actually won his latest book in the raffle at a fundraiser on Saturday and got him to sign it, which was nice.

Anyway, that's by the by - I'm glad PF's playing the Earl...I love it when he plays bad guys. I do hope that "World..." is better than "Pillars..." though - I was very disappointed with it, compared to the wonderful book. As Ken had a minor role in Pillars, maybe he'll do the same with World...and take MandyM15 out on location with him!
For some strange reason, I'm not getting email notifications from SF. Is it just me?

Now I'm more concerned about those pointy shoes... They look painful.

I'll never let go of the silk ties!! Never!!!

Interesting that Michael Caton-Jones is directing. I wonder if he had anything to do with PF getting the gig after he was so impressed by Peter's work in Spooks?

RE: Peter Firth #2 - MandyM15 - 28-06-2011 07:19 AM

Picard.... I've never met him either but he plays in a band with one of my family and I've met his brother a few times... hopefully his nephew is playing guitar at my forthcoming wedding too... a tenuous link and one, probably not good enough to get me on set but I have enquired about the possibility!

Oh and BTW, Eastbourne.....

I am certain that it didn't hurt.

There is an old saying: It ain't what you know, it's who you know. Wink

Maybe you can bribe him with some paella. Wink

Ha ha, something tells me Bea would be good at this Wink

I volunteer myself to do that, I'm better at cooking tortilla, though Wink (I've nearly missed this!).
