^Hmm that's only one aspect of why I found the storyline annoying, but it certainly was part of the reason why I thought it would be a good idea for someone to slap Harry in the face. I know many like Harry but I found him to be so infuriating in series nine and in the case of the nine finale, rather dense for a person in his position. In reality, most of Harry's team would have been fired/reallocated by now and Harry would have been kicked out into the cold by about series seven (definitely by eight).

It's not something I've seen discussed often on the forums and its not a popular opinion, but one of the things that has consistently bothered me about Spooks since about series six, is the show's refusal to ever give Harry proper, tangible consequences for his choices/decisions/actions and I am hoping ten remedies this in a meaningful way.

I think Lucas deleted, or at least, hid the fact that Albany had been copied by crashing the mainframe. He made it appear that the money transfer to the guy's account had caused the computer crash. How Lucas became such a technical wizard is beyond me, but has probably been discussed on the series 9 plot hole thread.

If you guys are interested, we've just started the season 7 re-watch over in the season 7 sub forum. We're discussing 7.1 this week and will start talking about 7.2 next Sunday - so feel free to jump in, we want all points of view.

Sounds great, although that means I will have to try and sit through beloved Series 7 without thinking of the horrors of Series 9.....Oh how I miss the real Lucas!

It is great to join in with the rewatch and relive all those wonderful Lucas moments (and think of the 'if only'). Might stop at the end of series 8 though!

Its not difficult. I find I am doing OK staying in canon. As long as it doesn't descend into "this-is-why-the-Lucas-of-S9-doesn't-work" rants, it's fine. I just stop when I find myself trying to project forward. As with any re-watch, you just have to stay in the moment and concentrated on that specific episode and the ones that came before.

I would really like the hear what the Lucas fans have to say about his journey through S7 and S8 completely separate from S9. Lucas has always been a bit of a mystery to me.

That is exactly the way I plan to re watch these episodes, series 9 Lucas does not and can not fit with the previous version as he was presented in 7 & 8, so I am just going to enjoy the character development through those earlier episodes.

I do think that 'mystery to me' feeling that many had about Lucas may have been what lead to the idea of a darker secret in his past and hence to the plot is series 9. But I loved the character from the very start, from the moment he was dragged out of Kachimov's car.

In the re-watch of series 7, we are up to 7.2. Lucas clearly moves into his new flat with boxes of personal belongings, most notably a large number of books. So in series 9, when Dimitri and Beth search his house where had all his personal stuff gone? Do you think he had a big bonfire when Vaughan turned-up or did he get rid of his stuff earlier?

Well, I assume he ate the macaroons? Wink The first thing to go apparently was the tea-pot. I wonder if he ever found it?

I completely agree with this A Cousin. I always found Lucas to be a bit of a mysterious dark horse, especially in series seven. I wasn't sure for pretty much all of s7 if Lucas was good, bad, or somewhere in between as a result of his time in prison and his relationship with Harry. I thought at the time that this was a theme that would be picked up and developed later but then it wasn't. It was a tiny bit in s8 but not much and then was sidestepped in s9 for the Darkar issue.

For me Lucas' journey was never completed because the story set up initially wasn't followed through with (I don't think this is something that has just happened with Lucas on Spooks but I think his case is the most obvious and the most incomplete). Which leaves everything to the realms of imagination upon rewatches (if you stop at s7 and 8 and don't think about s9 I mean).

Well I hope that kind of answers your question and sorry if it is confusing. Also, I should probably specify that I am not exactly a Lucas fan. He was never my favourite but I still think I can answer the question Smile
