DVD extras - jacko - 12-03-2011 10:13 PM

Hiya all, so i'm a bit intrigued, how fantastic are the bits with PF and NW, do we reckon the bit about NW being married and being an hinderance to PF intentions are just ham for the fans or is there any truth there. The chemistry between them is fab, the bit where they have a bit of a domestic and NW is its like being married is proper Harry and Ruth, very similar to the scene in 5.5 where they are discussing if she should tell Adam or not. What do you all think or is it just me thats mad, I'd just love to have these two to a dinner party, they so obviously love each other, kind of get the feeling that any real romantic scenes in the next series might be kind of hard for them as they obvioulsy have that connection, feel like it would be hard for them to know when to cut reality from fiction if they had to do a passionate scene, hope theres loads this next series. PS hope noone minds my opinions had a few too many beers tonight ha ha.

In a word - yes, I think they are hamming it up a bit. Although I think that they also have a very warm, trusting and intimate professional connection. I think it a very sweet compliment to their acting skills to think that what goes on between Harry and Ruth carries over into the personal lives of the actors themselves. Their professional connection is a rare and a special one. Being acting partners is a bit like a marriage. You have to trust your partner explicitly and allow your vulnerable side to show. They are lucky to have found it. I think PF and NW know that. And treasure it. As one would treasure a precious marriage. At least I hope they do. But it important to remember that PF is not Harry and NW is not Ruth.

But I am only working on my first beer of the evening! Wink

^ Thanks for your comments, A Cousin. Don't forget that in Nicola's MSN interview, she said (jokingly) that she was ready to marry her stunt co-ordinator for episode 907, because they got on so well together. As someone who has observed (from afar) how close Nicola is to her family, I think that its important for fans to separate the actress from the character she plays. Smile

Agreed, Pepelow and A Cousin. The actors and the characters are two separate entities. They're just good friends off screen. They definitely would not have joked about it in a public interview like that if there were really anything to it.

Your definately right guys and I never meant to infer there was actually anything going on , just that maybe in another time and place if circumstances were different maybe. Sorry got bit carried away it was just the beer talking ha ha.

I think that when fans are so taken in by the actor/actress's skills that they believe that whatever took place on screen might have or should have reflected real life, one should remember that this sort of speculation is a little invasive and disrespectful to "the (real life) other halves" of the actor and actress involved. Wink

No worries, Jacko. I hope you don't feel like I was jumping you. You are not the only one to mention this recently. I just thought it was time to nip it in the bud. I am a little embarrassed to out myself as a "Real Life Other Half" pepelow mentions above. Albeit, on a much smaller scale. I don't find it disrespectful though. It really is a very nice compliment that what they do is so believable that we, one some level, believe it completely. We have two (count 'em, two) pairs of skivvies that were tossed on stage to my husband during a production of The Full Monty. lol! Yup - we kept them! And they are on display in our music room. He also walks out the stage door to a bevy of beautiful babes every time he plays Daddy Warbucks. I get a kick out of the reactions I receive once I am identified as The Wife. Everything from, lucky woman to withering glares. It's actually very funny! Not sure how I would react to it on a non-stop international TV star kind of scale though! Cool
