RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - Moonlight - 22-12-2009 10:49 AM

I'm confused about his taste in music... he seems to be a closet Led Zeppelin fan (rock on brother) but all I hear him play in his flat is classical music... not sure if I see him sitting thro an opera like Jools...

How about Trivial Pursuit? I imagine he and Ruth could have some fierce contests.

I think he does love to read but doesn't get much time to. Perhaps he reads less fiction and more reality books - things about history, biographies about interesting people for instance. You don't build up his kind of general knowldege without reading. Would also second the listening to music but not playing any himself.

Was the Led Zeppelin tape actually his though. I was always a bit confused about that scene. Harry made it sound like that safe house was actually his so was off the radar. He also made some comment that it was a mess because the decorator was going through a painful divorce at that time. Did he actually mean his divorce to Jane? Perhaps the tape was Grahams or even Catherines and they left it there when they used to come and stay with him at weekends. Just a thought.

I suspect he was a voracious reader when he was young and while studying, but has maybe slipped him a bit since joining the service. Especially given he has to read so much and so quickly as Head of Section D.....sometimes it's the last thing you want to do when you do it for a living.

He and Ruth and Malcolm should team up in their old age and enter every pub trivia comp going. Between them they'd win every one, including the ones with big money prizes!.

I always thought the Zeppelin was his, not least because he was trying to put the tape together again after smashing it...that's such a Harry thing to do, it still makes me laugh to see him trying to spin the tape back on with the pencil!! He meant his divorce with Jane, I'm sure. It was off the radar, but he meant it was a wreck because he was too at the time. It was hardly "decorated" or furnished.

Oooh, I can see trivial pursuit! That would be a close contest... well, closer than Harry playing Ruth at scrabble!

That would be a deadly combination! I'd dread facing them at general knowledge! Maybe they should go on eggheads as a team? They just need one/two more people (can't remember how many are on eggheads...)

Yeah, the Zeppelin was definitely his. Maybe he's like me, who loved hard rock in my youth and still enjoy those oldies, but can't stand the newer incarnations of it and therefore now listen mostly to classical music.

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - JHyde - 22-12-2009 11:19 AM

I *never* doubted the Zeppelin was his. Sometimes it's not even disliking newer rock bands, it's just about not having the time or the energy to get into new music or disliking radio. And I say that as a MASSIVE devotee of old and new music.

I bet Harry re-spooled a few tapes in his day....and get your minds out of the gutter, it's not a euphemism.....(grins wickedly)

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - Moonlight - 22-12-2009 11:48 AM

I sincerely hope the LZ was his, perhaps then he might also like Pink Floyd and early Genesis and a bit of Jimmy Hendrix... perhaps he had to "monitor" these possible subversives and hung out at the back of their concerts (lucky sod..) Tongue

I think trivial is their thing!! I remember Harry, again in 4.09, watching a tv contest and answering all the questions correctly and being annoyed by the contestant, he changed the channel because Harry thought he was utterly foolish Tongue

He likes the oldies for sure, I can imagine him listening to Pink Floyd, yes... And when he needs to calm down or forget about something he listens classical music...

RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - JHyde - 22-12-2009 12:37 PM

I can see him being into The Clash. And the Stones without a doubt Smile
