RE: [Spoilers] Sir Harry Pearce - Moonlight - 28-01-2010 03:04 PM

I expect he was. and I wonder if thinking of Ruth helped him get through the torture.. that and the sure knowledge he was telling the truth. He's not at all bitter afterwards, which is impressive! I think he trusts Ruth totally, so not sure if he would have felt ashamed, just sorry for her as he would know she would be angry and upset.

I've said it before but the bit that breaks me, and says almost everything you need to know about this man, is that he stands up when both Ros and the HS enter the room. I'd love to know whose decision that was - the writer's, the director's or PF's.

does it say on the commentary for that ep?

I don't have episodes with commentary, unfortunately, so I wouldn't know.

My dvd set is on the way (finally) -- if they discuss it on the commentary, I'll let you know.

I just ordered them on Amazon uk. Will let you know if they're any good (customers reviews were, of course, raving).

He is controlled and principled. He has a dry sense of humour and is totally loyal to the Crown and his officers. These are attractive qualities to the thinking woman. His love life has suffered so we can all sleep soundly in our beds at night. I guess us gals just want to look after him and maybe thats partly our motherly instinct. I have to say that he is handsome but more so when he has his hair (what remains) cut very short, almost shaved. You have to remember though that any gal that ends up with him would never see him as he must work 24/7. So perhaps just working with him is as good a relationship you would have with him.

I agree 100%. It's not the power, it's the never losing his temper quality, always sharp and cynical (but you can see he has feelings too) and protecting his officers (remember he was ready to take the blame for the "Ruth murder" episode... But then this leads us to another favourite topic...

Welcome Saratita! A good thread you've joined, and it will be nice to have some new thoughts to bounce off.

Silktie has by now read Harry's Diary, as have a few of us, and we have a thread going on that book that you might like to join after you've read it. It's in the General Discussion Section.

He is the best character, "discussion is not an option"

Sorry folks -- there is no dvd commentary for 7.7 so the answer to this question might never be known.

Thanks anyway lwhite53. It's just such a beautiful touch for the character, and it really did make me cry the first time I saw it.
