RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - lwhite53 - 03-12-2009 05:42 PM (03-12-2009 12:35 PM)Tea Lady Wrote: I think that is a good point. Neither of them are comfortable with each other yet. Ruth knocks on Harry's office door now and asks if she can come in. She never did that before. That's true, but I've also noticed in S8 that anytime they're onscreen together, they're next to each other (or in very close proximity). I don't know if that's in the writing or the directing but it struck me. Maybe PF and NW are staging their own little rebellion. RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - Tea Lady - 03-12-2009 06:39 PM Yes you are right. I have noticed in a lot of the Ruth shots, especially in the meeting room, Harry is in the background of the shot looking a bit awkward or shuffling in his seat or touching his chin. In episode 8.5 Spoiler: show RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - almh - 03-12-2009 06:46 PM I don't think you did imagine it. Very subtle Kudos, that's clever! It's putting the idea into our minds that they are always together, and so would make a good couple, setting it up for the episode finale! (Or at least that's my theory...) RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - Beatriz - 03-12-2009 06:54 PM No, you didn't imagine anything my avatar is from that scene, and they are very close I like your theory almh! It's mine too, but if we get a 9th series perhaps we are wrong.... We'll see RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - JHyde - 04-12-2009 11:03 AM It's more likely to be NW and PF and the directors, rather than Kudos, as PF has said in interviews that the writers were kind of ignoring the chemistry this season, and they just ploughed ahead. I just finished reading Harry's Diary (which I highly recommend, go and buy it from the Forum Shop!) and I love that he gave her Ovid for that last birthday she was on the Grid. He didn't say which Ovid, but I'm willing to bet she had every Ovid in both Latin and English translations anyway. But it was an old edition, and obviously special because Harry gave it to her. Classic (pardon the pun) given the tongue in cheek nature of the poetry, and yet the skilfulness of the verse and form, and most especially the irony that Ovid himself was exiled not long after writing Ars Amatoria. Just quietly, Ovid was the main reason I studied Latin as long as I did, and I can see him being a big part of the attraction for Ruth too. RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - Tea Lady - 04-12-2009 11:24 AM "Ovid"....I feel very un-educated. I will go away and look him or her up. RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - JHyde - 04-12-2009 11:27 AM Definitely worth reading, Tea Lady. But some English translations are better than others, so PM me if you're really interested. I know, I'm a nerd. But so is Ruth, and that's how I'll get us back on topic I honestly think that's partly why Harry and Ruth like each other so much. They're both exceptionally bright and well read, and that's really attractive to the other, but not in a head-up-their-arse way, more in how they apply their book smarts to their job and everyday life. I really like that about them both. RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - Nitrus - 04-12-2009 10:15 PM So, will they go for the drink? lol. RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - almh - 04-12-2009 10:17 PM They will! I'm going to go back in time, (and into the Spooks universe,) and Spoiler: show RE: [spoilers] Harry and Ruth - JHyde - 05-12-2009 07:37 AM I've changed my signature! Good for Ruth. It's more than her just wanting to look out for Harry because he's upset. |
