RE: Connie - Kazters - 12-11-2010 10:12 AM

there was something about connie i didnt like from the begining they alwayes showed her looking dogy lol when something was going on. that said even i wasnt expecting her to be as bad as she was!

But she did redeem herself in the end. Couldn't really see her living happily in Moscow.
Wish we knew why she betrayed Lucas to the Russians.

I loved Connie, I really did. I do think she gained a measure of redemption at the end there, at least in some small part. But she should have known better, right from knowing what the damn code meant in the first place!

I also liked that she was older and Gemma is a consummate actress. She also had the best write in of any character on the show, hands down.

RE: Connie - Silktie - 13-11-2010 05:07 PM

I also liked the easy camaraderie she had with Harry before we knew she was a traitor. You fully believed these two had known each other forever and had seen it all in that time. She was the only one that challenged and backchatted Harry with abandon, and got away with it.

RE: Connie - JHyde - 13-11-2010 05:31 PM

Exactly. She just waltzed into the show, the back story so believable, already *there*. That rapport with Harry was superb and there from the word go. Truly, Connie's and Jo's development as characters were basically the only things I really dug about season 6.

I remember loving that Connie spoke Russian in I think episode 6 or 7. That came back with a vengeance!

She was just always so switched on and present. The person who took Ruth's place on the Grid had to be completely excellent and totally believable. And she was. (Cue Talking Heads...)

RE: Connie - HellsBells - 13-11-2010 05:58 PM

I liked the fact that Connie was more mature, it added a nice balance to the Grid, and I felt made it feel more realistic. Surely not everyone at MI5 is young and pretty! And the relationship with Harry was great.

Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't surprised that Connie turned out to be the mole, she always had this rather shifty look about her. From the first moment I set my eyes on her (as Series 7 was my first), I knew something fishy was going on with her, I just couldn't figure out what. But she gave me a bad feeling, I never felt right with her, there was always this gleam in her eyes that made me shudder and not trust her.

And when they revealed her to be the mole, it just all made sense to me.

But Gemma Jones was indeed an amazing actress, I did enjoy her performance!

RE: Connie - Aria - 14-11-2010 05:43 PM

I loved Connie, Gemma was brilliant in the role. I remember being relieved watching 7.6 when Harry was having her place searched looking for proof that she was the traitor and then finding that cassette absolving her. I remember thinking "shame on Harry for suspecting Connie"!!

RE: Connie - Beatriz - 17-11-2010 06:06 PM

I had the same reaction, Aria, I didn't suspect Connie until it was obvious, it was a surprise for me. One of the best twists in Spooks Smile

RE: Connie - Tea Lady - 17-11-2010 08:13 PM

I'm sure I read somewhere on the PF Forum recently that bringing Connie into the series, was originally to give Harry a girlfriend. Again, I am sure someone will correct me here if I am wrong, but I think someone had spoken to PF before S6 was filmed and he mentioned this. Clearly though, the writers thought better of it, and Gemma Jones was cast.
