Not to mention that Harry knows some very hard truths about sweet nothings turning into sweet somethings when it comes to pillowtalk.

I'm not sure Harry banked on Lewis turning up though, because it almost certainly spelt grave danger for Lucas. And he wouldn't have wanted any more than what he'd already put him in for.

No, you're right -- Lewis was a surprise element. I don't think anyone knew up to that point (audience included), that Sarah/Nightingale was helping the bank pres get to Baisley. Harry would have handled the situation differently had that been uncovered earlier.

I agree - had the link with Lewis been confirmed there is no way he would have let Lucas in. I think Harry is protective of Lucas, as well as with everyone else on the team, and only really allowed him to talk to Sarah as a last resort - they had nothing else really to go on.

I think Harry knew not only that Lucas needed it, but also that it was their best chance of Sarah either exonerating herself or tying herself up in knots. Which is what happened.

I'm not sure H letting L go talk to Sarah alone was about trust so much as it was about H allowing L to learn for himself the dangers of the relationship. I think H learned with Tom and Christine that getting all pissy and quoting the rules was the wrong way to handle the situation and he won't do that again. H knows Sarah is disastrous for L (and not just for operational reasons) but he also knows that L has to discover that on his own.

Can't say that I agree with this. There's no way Harry would allow Lucas to endager an operation purely to learn a lesson about the dangers of love. Also, his annoyance when the comms started to go seemed very real. I think he wanted to believe Lucas when he said that he could handle it, and expected him to play by the rules.

I don't know.Undecided Lucas has already not played by the rules any number of times up to this point. Would Harry really expect him to do so this time? It doesn't seem, to me anyway, how Lucas operates. And I don't think H was necessarily trying to get L to learn a lesson about love, but about Sarah.

So in 8.7, Lucas again ignores Harry's instructions and Harry still doesn't do anything about it. I'm not sure what to make of Harry's lack of disciplinary action, at this point. I can't think of any other agent throughout the show's run who's gotten away with this much insubordination, not even Adam. Something's happening in this relationship but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is!?!

I can understand Lucas decission of entering, and Harry too, that does not mean he hadn't said a thing to him about it. Despite of the fact Lucas was acting moraly right, he was ignoring his boss and that wasn't the first time!!
What I can't understand is why the screenwriters ignore this.

Yeah, this just so out of character for Harry. In the past eps, at the very least we'd get a couple of sharp-ish lines of dialogue about it. And Lucas's outright ignoring of Harry's orders in S8 is so overt that it makes it hard not to notice -- I'd have assumed that the Grid folks (as few as there are) would be discussing it among themselves, too.

Perhaps they are, but the writers aren't showing us...
