I thought that the Dhillon was going to set light to himself and the girl regardless, and take Ashok down with him, and perhaps we'd have a scene of Lucas sprinting down through the school with a giant fireball after him. It is an incredibly powerful moment, I agree, the moment when Ashok is trying to persuade him to stop. Just there was no fireball... (Considering how many explosions there are in Spooks I thought they'd have a couple more scenes containing people running away from fire... Sorry, in pyromaniac mood atm. Don't worry, I don't know where the matches are hidden in my house...)

I'm prepared to take that scene as it was, although the same problems crossed my mind afterwards, because I found it incredibly tense and powerful both times I've watched it.

I think I would have preferred it if he did set himself alight. Because I think Spooks has too much of the baddies seeing sense and stopping. I think the girl should have been saved as it was but he should of then set himself alight.

I think it would be more real and gritty that way.

So maybe rather than killing their own, they should start killing the bad guys?

It would have been an appropriate end for Dhillon. It's not as though he'll ever see his sister again, but I imagine that when he sold his business he'd have made sure she was taken care of. That was really freaking tragic. That girl being used as bait for her brother.

What a sensible idea!

Great ep, (wouldnt say its the best ever) but it was bloody good.

Bourne music and themes really makes ther show jump off the screen.
Felt sorry for poor Tariq, his facial expression when Lucas told him to get some sleep.
Il like to see the kid back in a later series working for MI5.
and fav quote had to be Ros- youve dropped your potato peeler

I've remembered where I've seen the actor that plays the new HS before - he was in Rome, played Brutus if I remember correctly.

Anyhoo, back to the episode - I can fully understand Harry's mistrust of the new HS, seeing as he got the position because his predecessor was framed, but in light of the preview for 8.8 I wonder if him not telling the HS the truth might contribute to the HS finding himself in danger... Based on what we saw in 8.7 I would say that it seems likely that the new HS is part of Nightingale, but perhaps this is a double bluff?

RE: Episode 7 Discussion - almh - 13-12-2009 12:33 PM

I would say double bluff, just because it's too obvious that he could be nightingale...

RE: Episode 7 Discussion - Beatriz - 13-12-2009 12:48 PM

Yes, that's my guess for the same reason, I think I've said somewhere before or not... Tongue (very forgetful I am)

RE: Episode 7 Discussion - Silktie - 13-12-2009 12:53 PM

What if it's a triple bluff? They knew we'd think it was too obvious and therefore wouldn't think the HS is part of Nightingale, while meantime he really is - surprising us all.

No? Too devious?

RE: Episode 7 Discussion - almh - 13-12-2009 12:55 PM

Maybe... This is Spooks, there's no such thing as too devious!
