I'm just not sure Lucas is the best for the job right now. I think they should bring someone in.

Poor Lucas has been way too naughty and lovesick this season to be Section Chief. He's still far too scarred from everything he has been through to be reliable. I love the idea of bringing in someone new and have a 3 way Alpha male clash (Harry, Lucas and new boy)

Yes, bring in about 2 more women! That way we'll have a replacement for Jo, and one for Ros if necessary and Ruth won't be lonely! Mind you, she does get on pretty well with Harry, and (not quite so well hopefully
) with Tariq so at least she has some people to talk to ATM.I think if Ros does die, Lucas could be Section Chief, just because he's the only field officer left now, or they could do another Adam and bring someone else in. But either way - they need to recruit more people!

I really don't see Lucas in that role; all this business with Sarah did weaken his position; but then Harry would have to parachute someone in from another section the way that he did with Adam when Tom lost the plot.... I'm trying to think of a good strong younger actor at the moment who would be able to pull it off... any ideas? They do need more bodies on the team; only having 2 field officers was nuts. I'd love to see another strong woman, but it would be tough for her, being compared to Ros. I'd also love to see another older character like Connie or Malcolm, to be more equal to Harry.

We have Ruth as Harry's equal for the most part - she's not as old as him, admittedly, nor is she as legendary in the fieldwork but neither were Malcolm and Connie - they were his equals partly because of age but partly because they were good at their jobs, and Harry could confide in them. Ruth is someone who will tell him if he's going wrong, who can change his mind, who Harry can respect, so we do currently have an equal for Harry.

I do agree with that; but I loved the harking back to older traditions in spying, the Cold War era etc, which Malcolm and Connie supplied. It's a link to the past of MI5 that Harry is part of and Ruth doesn't fit that age group. Believe me, I am in no way trying to demean her relationship with Harry, I am a way big shipper! I love her in her own right and she does a damn good job of course!

Yes, that the reason why he would be Section Chief, but honestly, he doesn't deserve it...
