I still reckon that line about blood and hard liquor going hand in hand with politics is one of the finest in the show's history.

I do think Ros had some development this season, although it was more implied than otherwise.

Yes, that quote from the old HS is up there for quote of the series.

But did we really see anything from Ros we hadn't seen before? She has shown emotion before, in season 7 when Adam died for instance. For the rest she's been her normal, hard-nosed self.

You're my new best friend for saying that! Big Grin

Ros did have some development i guess after the whole shooting Jo fiasco but i can agree that we've seen most of it before. We've seen her cry before in 5.2 when her father was going to be put in prison.
The main thing that made me notice/feel a change in Ros this season though is probably the whole final few minutes of 8.8 where she's trying to help the HS and laughing with him. That was different.

I think the Coleville episode gave us some insight into Ros. That scene with Harry in the hallway, the way she answers Coleville without flinching - "Yes, it was worth it." Her angst over Jo's death. Not a lot, but more compared to most characters on the Grid this season. I certainly like Ros a lot more this year, carrying on from last, and that had to come from somewhere.

Silkietie, how could I forget Nicolas Blake. I liked him too as HS, he's a character I grew to admire, the way he 'left' gave me -false- hope that maybe goverments could have honest working people, so he would come 2nd very close to Ashok Big Grin

A bit off topic: Kirayuki love your sig!
Wer're choosing new best friends?? <grin> Kirmostar and Adam Carter would be mine Big Grin Nahh I like you all my friends!

Nicholas Blake was a great character, I quite forgot about him Confused He was a good person and his conversations with Harry had very good lines.

Main characters, as you all know, it has to be Ruth... and closely followed by Harry Big Grin

Ruth (not even a contest!) and Tariq for main characters.

Nicholas Blake and Ashok for supporting.

Adored Lucas (no bias there!) but having said that........

Harry just gets better and better doesn't he!

Never liked Ros until this series but she was great.........Tariq is a gem!.........

Nicholas Blake for best supporting character.......really started to like him!

Oops, forgot Ros -- she need to be counted among the most likable for this series, in which she really came into her own.

Ros definitely was good in this series, but I think I preferred her in series 7 - she had more of a role to play... I'm hoping I haven't forgotten any major episodes in series 8 that will change my mind, but I can't remember off-hand.

In my opinion, being a silly shipper (complete with alliteration Tongue) I think that the best character on the Grid was Ruth, because she had character development, a decent amount of screen-time, it was believable and we know something about her! Harry wasn't in this one as much, so therefore he didn't have as much to say, which meant that he wasn't as good (we needed more one-liners from him!) although he did get a decent amount of character development compared to the others, particularly his relationship with Ruth. Lucas was sleeping with Sarah, and Sarah had the awful line, therefore I didn't really like Lucas (Critical Thinking AS is teaching me well how to make arguments Tongue) and Tariq is someone who magically appeared on the Grid, who appeared to once know Jo but wasn't overly upset about her death, and has a cousin. We knew nothing about him, which still annoys me...

Anyway, back to the real question, most likeable support person... I think I may have to rewatch all the episodes to find someone Tongue Well, it won't be someone from 8.1... actually, the guy I liked the most was Victor Sarkisan, just because every time I watch him on tv I have to smile because he reminds me of Alan Davies and so I love him for that. Ignoring of course that he took Harry and was going to sell him on to the evil one who must not be named (If you mention his name, you shall not get cookies Sad My second threat of withholding cookies in a week...) But seriously, the most likeable person, not for his similarity to a comedian,... I can't remember off hand. I will actually have to rewatch episodes 8.2-8.8 again Tongue

Sorry this is so long!!!
