a) he leaves by decommission (not really likely but hey)
or
b) he takes a flying leap. Doubt Harry would be the pusher though. I'd say Dimitri...

I'm betting on the second option.
I will be so disappointed if it's the flying leap - How very 'Life on Mars'!

I wouldn't mind a bit of Life on Mars to be honest. (I miss that show...) Tongue

However i know what you mean. I just don't see him surviving is what i am trying to say. Smile

Flying leap eh? Like a literal leap of faith?

Maybe pushing Lucas will take away Dimitri's constant cheery outlook on life..... Silba

You know, there is always the chance that Lucas is just crazy and they ship him off into a loony bin!

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation - RedClover - 02-11-2010 09:15 AM

I still say he might end up in a Chinese prison.

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation - Sir Harry P - 02-11-2010 10:08 AM

Hmmmm, so Lucas and Harry have a rooftop showdown with Lucas using Ruth as leverage..... it's a no-brainer really Dimitri takes out Lucas (enabling Richard Armitage to film "The Hobbit" in NZ for 2 years) but not before Lucas dispatches Ruth infront of Harry.
Either that or Tom returns absailing from a helicopter piloted by Tessa, swinging in like Tarzan knocking Lucas off the building??

I can see Harry saying Lucas needs 'help' on the rooftop. Lucas takes it to mean that they will put in away in a loony bin for his 'own safety' and then does away with himself rather than live like that. It's not going to end well.

I just hope that they give RA great scenes and he gets a BAFTA!

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation - KiKi - 02-11-2010 10:20 AM

I haven't seen this posted elsewhere, apologies if it has been. But the Radio Times for next week says:

Spoiler: show
So Lucas North has turned bad: "He's a skilled, resourceful and dangerous operative...and a threat to national security" a beetle-browed Harry Pearce tells his sombre and and ferarful colleagues on The Grid. How did it come to this? We've learnt during the past few weeks that Lucas isn't the man we thought he was, though his motivation for going rogue isn't immediately clear. He surely can't have done it for the love of a good woman, can he? Lucas is right at the heart of a typically fretful and exhausting series finale packed with bluff, double bluff and betrayal. Spooks enjoys messing with our minds. More importantly, it knows how to deliver a shocking climax. And it does.

Also:
Spoiler: show
With the team still in shock about Lucas North, a specialist is brought in to help the find the man they knew as their section chief and friend. But as the search grows desperate, Harry and Lucas embark on a deadly game of cat and mouse.

One last one from a picture caption in RT:
Spoiler: show
What role has Maya Lahan played in Lucas North's change of direction?

Which potentially suggests
Spoiler: show
that all is not lost, and that there is more to the ridiculously unbelievable Lucas/Maya relationship than meets the eye...

Big Grin HHAHAHAAHHAAAAHAHA!

Sorry, somehow the image I got in my head was absurdly funny! LOL! Tom swinging like Tarzan, LOL! Maybe he and Lucas and Tessa are in this nefarious plot together!?!?!?

Ian Wylie posted on his blog that this finale episode is RA's finest hour, so I am in the belief that some amazing scenes will be in store, at least acting-wise!! RA definitely deserves a BAFTA!!!

As for Lucas/John and the Loony Bin, I hope that if they do go with this route that they at least ship him off alive, then at least that leaves an opening for RA to return should he want to in the future, not to mention it would certainly be something that Spooks didn't kill off one of their major players!! And then maybe one day Lucas/John can return once they've fixed whatever is wrong in his head!!!

On reading the Ian Wylie blog, I just have this nagging feeling that we are all being massively played here. That whatever the penultimate scene is i.e. Harry getting killed, Lucas getting killed, it turns out not to be true. It's a load of miss-information to get at the Chinese or someone similar. Don't forget what Vaughn said, the Chinese are able to monitor him, but he has no idea how. Perhaps this is a way to play the Chinese at their own game. It has all just been one massive game.

I just have this feeling that there is more to this final showdown than Lucas threatening to kill Ruth, and Harry either gives him Albany or doesn't. Then either scenario leads to a final stand off at the high rise OK Corral. There must be more to this, than this...

I agree!

I mean, since when have Spooks been this bloody obvious about a plotline? They might as well be dropping anvils everywhere on people's heads and holding up neon signs that says "hey look!! Lucas is evil!! This is how the story ends!!!"

It just can't be that simple!!

I gotta say though, this series has definitely given me some damn good material for making my Spooks videos!!! Smile

I've already got multiple ideas in my head, and this song that struck me as perfect for Lucas/Harry final showdown, it's a song called "Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet" by Relient K ----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZJBejiIHSo
