This theory certainly works, but I can believe in brain-washing, not genetic experiments, but brain-washing is often a tactic used in the spy business so it's very well within the realm of Spooks universe.
Brain-washing is not sci-fi, it is real life, it happens in real life, so if it appears in Spooks, it's not a fictional sci-fi tale, it is something that is real and can be damaging.

Oh Wow! what a theory. If Lucas isn't actually the Albany file then maybe it is an encrypted file and Lucas's tattoos are the encryption key. Harry doesn't know what is in the Albany file and the only way to find out is Lucas. Harry said "your are invaluable to me" and it seems he is invaluable to the Chinese as well!

I must admit I have absolutely no idea whatsoever where this storyline has been, is at or indeed going to! Everytime someone suggests something I think oooh yes that could be it but in all honesty I really don't know!

You know, I had exactly the same idea! At the moment this seems to be the only plausible ending: we see Lucas in bed, the phone rings and it's Harry who asks: "Where the hell are you? We're all waiting for you!" And Lucas answer is: "Oh, I'm so sorry, I must have overslept. But you know, I had such weird dreams last night."
A la Bobby Ewing? LOL. If you don't remember Dallas then you won't get this reference and won't be as ancient as me!
