I just deleted 10 messages from my Sentbox, and the numbers still haven't gone down.
Ah, not to worry! I've just realised what the problem was. It's because when you delete messages from your Inbox/Sentbox they actually just go into the Trash Can, and aren't deleted as such, so they still take up PM Space. Delete the messages from the Trash Can, and the available spaces goes up again
