Career

Originally from GCHQ, she was seconded to Section D in 2003, and officially transferred to MI5 in 2004. Whilst at first appearing batty but brilliant, she soon became an important member of the team, despite originally being seconded to spy on MI5 for GCHQ.

In 2006 she was framed by Mace as having murdered Mik Maudsley, a prison worker at a high-security prison where six terrorists went missing, presumed dead, in a fire. Despite being innocent she faked her own death and left the service.

In 2009 she became re-involved with MI5 when a rogue Pakistani agent attempted, and later succeeded, to kidnap her and and her partner George, and his son Nico. George was killed, and his son was collected by a family member. Ruth rejoined Section D soon after, returning to her job as Intelligence Analyst.
