The Iraq Dossier- Peter Firth (BBC Radio 4)

Thought some people might be interested in this.

BBC Radio 4 are airing a dramatisation of the real life events leading up to the Iraq War, starring Peter Firth as Richard Dearlove, head of MI6.

The 1 hour radio play will air on Saturday the 2nd of March 2013. It will be available on BBC iPlayer for seven days thereafter and you can listen to it anywhere in the world, no regional restrictions.

Here's the link:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01qzk13

This is the summary:
The dossier "Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction", lead to the headline "just 45 minutes from attack", persuaded MPs to vote for an invasion of Iraq, and hardened public opinion against Saddam Hussein. Fall out from accusations by the BBC that the claims had been "sexed up" led to the death of Dr David Kelly and the Hutton Inquiry.

This drama goes behind the scenes of MI6, the Ministry of Defence and Downing Street to dramatise one of the most controversial episodes in British politics.

The author, David Morley, has created the script from the mountain of emails, memos, and first hand testimony submitted to the various inquiries into the 2003 invasion of Iraq, as well as from first-hand interviews with Dr Brian Jones, who died in 2012 and was the MoD's leading expert on nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, concerned that exaggeration should not creep into the dossier.

Other key players include Richard Dearlove, head of MI6; John Scarlett, Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee and Tony Blair's adviser, Alastair Campbell.

Thought it might be interesting to see what everyone's opinion about the best and worst (for want of a better expression, spooks is always amazing) series' were. And maybe rank them in order from one to ten (one being best, ten being worst). For example, my list would go like this...

1. Series 5
2. Series 7
3. Series 8
4. Series 3
5. Series 2
6. Series 6
7. Series 4
8. Series 10
9. Series 9
10. Series 1

Series 5 is top because it has all my favourite characters, awesome storylines, HR moments aplenty and some great Ros oneliners. Series 1 is bottom because I didn't feel attatched to the characters at this point and no Ruth but I do miss Harry's waisrcoats in later series.

Hope this is a good idea , would love to hear your ideas!

First, the plots are bizarre, but it's just television and entertainment, so I'm fine with that. It's the little things. . .the details that shows get wrong that tend to aggravate me.

For example, In volume 5, episode 6, Ros Meyers attaches a silencer to her pistol ( a Glock? ) by threading it INSIDE the barrel ! Sorry, but the gun is going to explode when the bullet hits those threads. Silencers thread on the OUTSIDE of the barrel; thus the necessity for having a piece wherein the barrel extends beyond the slide, such as a Beretta 92SF.

So... I've been eagerly waiting for the complete boxset to come out.... however can't find anything on release date etc.... seen a few threads saying no complete box sets will be released due to rights.... confusing as you can get 1-9 boxset.... anyone know if/when complete boxset would be out? I've been a very good girl Santa...

Wasn't sure where to put this!

Basically I bought the Boxset of series 1-9 several months ago but since then have recieved nearly all the series as single sets for my birthday and obviously I bought series 10 the other week.

So I'm selling the 1-9 boxset. I originally got it off ebay and I've tried and tested each DVD and they're totally legit. It sells on the web usually for around £65-£85 but I just want rid so will sell it for around £40 or take an offer on it!

Anyone interested? If not I'll ebay it, but thought I'd give Spooks fans the first shout.

Please move if this is in the wrong place!

Thanks
