Hi All

No, it’s not Series 10 (yet), but it looks like Spooks is on ABC1 on Tuesday 20 December at 10:45pm. If I’m reading the blurb right (and my research is right), it looks like it’s Series 6 episode 3 (!!) AAAAAAAH! That means I’ve missed watching episodes 1 and 2! (Mind you, I have them on DVD…but that’s not the point!)

Apologies for missing it. Haven't seen any news yet on Series 10 in Oz....

Watch and discuss.

This is my favourite episode of season 6. Now that we’re free of Yalta and the convoluted Ros traitor storyline, I’m much happier.

So Adam turns into a traitor too because he’s angry about losing Ros. Gee, Adam, Ros betrayed her country, made her own choices and engineered her own downfall, but now you’re going to shaft everyone who’s worked with you for the last few years for that? Adam must have known that going to the press about the Tehran bomb would probably mean the end of Harry and everyone else who was involved in it. I’m not sure that I buy that Adam would be that shortsighted. I do give him points for coming clean to Harry the moment he realised what was going on. If only Ros had done the same.

I absolutely loved Connie here. This episode allows us a glimpse into the backstories of both Connie and Harry, and the horrible things they’ve done in the name of the country. I like that these things aren’t glossed over or justified, and that we see the cost and impact of it on both Harry and Connie. Like Harry says, he is still ashamed of what he’d done.

It’s also great to see them improvise off the Grid to neutralise Davey King. Very MacGyver, the way they used what was at hand in Harry’s grotty safehouse to save the day.

How slimy was Jason Belling? And Bob Hogan actually helping our team was a nice surprise after all the mind games played between him and Harry over the season.

The Home Sec should have known better than cross swords with Harry. That final scene between them was fantastic. Possibly my favourite scene of the whole season. It really is amazing how forgiving Harry is of people plotting against him, as long as he can understand the bigger picture.

We also had many fantastic quotes in this episode. And Harry looked particularly good. All round, a great episode.

Unfortunately the Adam/Ros/Anna mess is back in full force in this episode. Meh.

I much enjoyed the chess game played between Harry, Bakshi and Bob Hogan. There was some great framed shots during their talk around the monument. Does anyone know what that golden statue was?

Also enjoyed Connie’s smooth talking to buy them more time to get the feed back in place.

And Ros’ treachery still allows all manner of things to happen. If she’d come clean about Yalta last episode, the guy that infiltrated Yalta would not have known about the deal and the TV show, and Yalta would not have been able to inform the Iranians where Anna was. I don’t believe at this stage she is under any illusions how dangerous Yalta is to British interests, but still she remains quiet about them, to protect herself.

Edited to add - In my enthusiasm, I think I posted this too early - sorry! Feel free to delete it!

I'll be the pushy American and start this off.

Malcom goes out in the field alien hunting, Ros smells something rotten in Denmark and Harry get his "K" and a psychological assessment on the same day!

Discuss....

OK - I'll start.

One word: Malcolm. Love this episode for him. HS is lovely in it. I also like how Adam stays with him. Sure he lets him think he is gonna die for longer than he needs to, but Malcolm really proves himself to himself.

I love the scenes with Harry and Bob. "Maybe it was a cat?" In fact, I think Matthew Marsh is one of the best series long guest actors they have ever had. You just never know where the team stands with him. Is he helping? Is he not? It's a constant guessing game. For Harry and for us. Harry doesn't trust him any farther than he has to.

Harry's psycholigical assessment. Chocolate Buttons - lolololol!!!!!!! I wonder if this is before or after Jane Featherstone asked NW if she would like to come back to the programme?

Ros & Yalta - meh. Adam & Ros - meh. Adam & Anna - meh.

Rupert Walters script. I always like his stories. His scripts are always thriller/suspense oriented. He clearly likes writing for Malcolm and Harry in particular.

This is the episode where the camera work starts to be very distracting to me. There were moments where it just feels like the director (Charles Beeson) is showing off.

There's a virus on the streets of London, Zaf goes missing and Jo stands alone. Plus Connie joins the team.

What did you think?

(This thread will run for two weeks.)

For me, the best things about season 6 are the introduction of Connie and Jo's development as a character. Connie's introduction is hands down the best on the show so far and I love how she slaps Harry into action. It's also nice to have a grown up on the show, compared to all the 20 and 30 somethings who otherwise run the department. Then again, in the world of Section D, that's mostly because everyone dies.

As for Jo, this is the episode where she really becomes an officer and not just a junior sidekick. She is brave and resourceful and I find the sequence where Alexi has her captive absolutely heartbreaking. She also gets one of my favourite lines in the entire show, where she agrees with her captor that Adam is cold and why.

I have just watched this episode on DVD for the first time and I cant quite make up my mind as to whether it was good or bad. I think it was good because it got Adam, Ros, and Harry together, out of the Grid. But the way Harry reacted when Ros was being injected didnt quite make sense as he wanted to kill her at the start of the episode! Maybe it was because she came back for him I dont know? Surely Yalta would have killed Harry as well? I know about Juliet and Harry's past but why leave him alive to tell the tale? I loved Malcolm in this episode though. Just wondered if anyone else liked this episode as I have not really seen it discussed much?

Surely Yalta would have killed Harry as well? I know about Juliet and Harry's past but why leave him alive to tell the tale? I loved Malcolm in this episode though. Just wondered if anyone else liked this episode as I have not really seen it discussed much?

What did you think of her? A good addition to the series? I know a lot of people did like her but I can't say I was a fan. I thought that the whole Adam/Anna storyline was rather silly but her appearance did trigger many storylines. hmmm interesting...

Series 6 was opened with a thrilling two-parter. Was it a good series opening? Did you enjoy the storyline? Discuss here

I thought that it was a good series opener, an exciting storyline which kept me hooked through the two episodes. You could never tell who was going to survive and of course, we saw the introduction of two main storylines; Zaf's capture and the Ros/Adam storyline, both of which ran the entire length of the series
