Nostalgic childrens TV shows...
Hi guys.

Figured that this might be an interesting thread. Smile

Today on facebook I was prompted to change my profile pic to a childhood TV character in support of NSPCC...

This triggered of a nostalgic run through of plenty of TV shows I used to watch as a child and I found it to be quite enjoyable. Made me feel like a kid again. Tongue

So I was just wondering which shows you all watched when you were children? I am aware that we are a very wide-spread community in terms of location and age so this should be quite interesting and fun.

Well to start off... for me there are a few I've recently come up with from when I was very young... (sort of before and start of Key stage 2 young).

- The Clangers*
- The Herbs*
- Sooty
- Rosie and Jim
- Tots TV
- Pingu
- Moomins
- Winnie the Pooh
- Animals of Farthing Wood <--- (I remember this making me cry)
- Wombles*

*These are before my time but I used to watch them as they were shows my mother watched when she was young which she bought on video for me and my brother.

There are however probably way more than this.

I remember watching all of those! Completely forgot about the Animals of Farthing Wood, I'm fairly sure it had me in tears when the forest caught on fire Sad

I also remember watching:
-Fireman Sam
-Postman Pat
-Okey Doke
-Spider!
-Come Outside
-Bodger and Badger
-Wallace and Gromit (!) (the episode "A Close Shave" terrified me, that robotic dog was so scary! Then again, "The Wrong Trousers" also creeped me out... still absolutely loved it though.)

I fleetingly watched an episode or two of Bagpuss and The Clangers, but that was more because my mum loved the shows when she was a young girl Wink

Okay, showing my age here, but I watched Bagpuss (that was my favourite), Clangers, Rainbow and Pipkins. I'm sure I'll remember others once I've thought about it.

Tom and Jerry and the Luney Toons were other favourites of mine! Anything that was available on the BBC and Cartoon Network really, up until the Disney Channel was introduced... from that point, I watched a lot of Recess and shows such as Lizzie McGuire and Lloyd in Space Smile

We never had anything other than BBC1, 2 and ITV1 until I was 9.

Oh, forgot to add: The Worst Witch. Loved that show

RE: Nostalgic childrens TV shows...
I've watched a lot of BBC when I was little (think I've learned quite a lot English from it), I loved things like 'Master of the Universe' and 'Thundercats' Blush, also 'Postman Pat', 'Play School', 'King Rolo' and 'The Muppetshow' and also a lot of things on the Dutch tv wich I don't know you would know, like 'The Freggles', 'Nils Holgerson', 'Maya the bee', the Dutch version of 'Sesamestreet'.
(I've recently saw Philip Schofield, who presented the childrens programmes on the BCC in my time, and I was amazed the only thing that had changed was the colour of his hair!)
