For those in the UK who fancy a bit of PF in a sailor suit, Amistad is on BBC1 at 11.55pm tomorrow (17th Jan.) I think I will probably set my SKY Plus for it, fast forward to the PF bit, watch that, then delete. Not that I am shallow or anything.

Amistad's worth watching, it's probably my favourite Spielberg. And of course, he's wonderful in it.

For the UK. If I have worked this out correctly the episode of Soldier Soldier showing at 10pm this Saturday (23rd) should be the episode with Peter Firth in it. Its on the Men & Motors channel. They show 3 episodes together. Its a bit difficult to be 100% as they do not give details of the episodes on the listings. His episode is called Leaving and I think he plays a gay soldier from what I can gather. So that will be PF in a sailor suit and an army uniform in one week. What next??

I was wondering if anyone knows why PF does so little acting between spooks? I know that he does a fair bit of audio work and he has a minor role in a new BBC drama, Blood and Oil. But compared with the other actors from spooks, he is almost non-existent between series. He also does not do any theatre work. I can't believe it is due to lack of offers.

Good question actually. Maybe he doesn't really need to, so he just doesn't?

I think he's probably at a point in his career where he can be very picky about what work he chooses to do. He's also got teenaged kids and may not want to do so much location travel anymore. And, btw, voiceover work pays VERY WELL and it's relatively easy, compared with acting gigs.

Yeah you are probably right, he is being picky about any new work. It is absolutely our loss though.

I dont think you will find the answer to this question unless PF tells you. It could be for a million reasons. As its been said family, financial, or that he hasnt been offered any decent parts. It does happen. He has never really had the main part in a film or TV programme for many years. Also Spooks filming is quite intense over many months. As one gets a bit older, one might just be happy to try and cope with that and for the other half of the year relax.

Something I've noticed is that HP has a manly swagger

Had to look it up too - my dad is 6 months older than PF, so age wise he and Ruth would be just fine (she's 5 years older than I)
