RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
Seems abit annoying the whole deal about Albanny was more nothing really and how the whole series completly revolved around Lucas.

They should've made more of the schizophrenic stuff that he was having throughout the episode - sort of how they did it with Adam in series 5, and lead that into Lucas remembering the goodness or something.

Also we still didn't find anything about Maya really, and didn't the Chinease want to kill Lucas/John in the triad episode?

Finally this ending of the unknown of Harry is reminiscant of a couple of series ago when he got captured by the Russians or something?

What a brilliant scene between RA & NW. Loved it.

Disappointed we didnt actually see Lucas' body fall off building and go splat. Think i'm just sick for wanting to see that but guess it leaves it open for him returning as no one mentioned the dead body. Have to wait till 2011 to see if theres a funeral.

Poor Harry ........ If Lucas has gone please dont make Harry go too.

Nearly cried when i thought Ruth might die & at the thought of Harry facing an enquiry but not at Lucas jumping off building. Guess thats because Lucas died to me in about episode 2 or 3 of this series.

I think RA should come with a warning --- Dont let him do 3 series of a character. He destroyed Gisborne in series 3 and turned Lucas inside out in the 3 series so thank the lord the Hobbit will only be in 2 parts.

All in all though it was a bit of an anticlimax to me.

So, I had to watch it on IPlayer, and it ended with the scene in Tower's office. Was there a trailer after that? Other than the screen saying "Back in 2011"? Thanks!

Brilliant episode, living up to my high expectations. Wonderful performances from PF and RA. Their last scene on the roof was outstanding, despite the glaring continuity error. RA's best performance in the show IMO. Lovely music throughout too.

When I saw the Spooks Returns 2011, I did a happy dance. Brilliant season, roll on season 10.

Ruth RE: Series 9 Episode 8 discussion
I can't believe how much I've been glued to the screen this last hour! I think I'm overdosing now on angst and drama and moving straight into analysis on what just happened, and prayers for what I hope will/won't happen next year!

Spoiler: show
Harry risked his career for Ruth.....and she was angry with him for that......so that was what I expected, but it was good to see the look she gave him before he left to see Lucas/John. Again, they didnt have to say anything but I hope he realised that she does love him. Lucas falling from the roof - ok, by this point he had nothing to live for, but it was an interesting revelation that Albany was all for nothing. It was very sad and poignant that in many cases people take risks and people die for something that turns out to have no meaning at all. A nice counterpoint to all of the real risks they have all taken before.
Ruth crying for Harry at the end....hopefully this is a good sign, but then again......?She looked pretty tough when he left to see Lucas - taking the role she implied he should have taken - I hope she lets her heart rule her head but its unlikely. My heart was in my mouth most of the time and was screaming at Harry at the the end not to jump too. How will he get out of this...and I have another big question, what happened in those 48 hours? Poor Harry is all alone - has he really not seen Ruth or the others? Sorry for rambling again - head is still buzzing

We actually don't know if Lucas is dead because we didn't see him jump but from the reacttions of Harry, Ruth and Demitri and Tariq I guess he jumped.
I felt so sorry for Lucas../ he just lost who he was, Rich Armitage was superb tonight as were Nicola Walker and Peter Firth.. brilliant performences!
I was relieved when Harry found Ruth, I don't think she knew Lucas had Albany at all, thats why she wasn't initialy angry, I actually thought Lucas had KILLEd ruth when he injected her, I think she thought the same thing, that Lucas was about to kill her, I was happy to see she was still breathing and I thought she was safe and then bang... 3 hours to live, so happy they managed to save her.
Poor Harry, his choice was almost impossible, save Ruth, or save a file that doesnt exist or work but risk losing your career...

I was also very relieved when Harry turned round and Lucas had disappeared... I was hoping he'd just disappeared, until Harry looked over the roof I was thats what had happened
What about Lucas's confession too! Alec said it was all a lie, will we see what he meant by that Wink?

No there wasn't. I doubt they will have even filmed anything for the next series yet.

The RA NW scene was beautiful, I absolutely loved it. They really showed the parallels between their life. The only difference seems to be that one joined MI5 when they were already bad, and on when they weren't.

DANNY - Placements all over the shop. Back up vehicles, chopper support if we need it. Bomb disposal with a signal jammer for Mary’s trademark remote control blasts. And Tom here’s doing the catering. Mate. You are so covered.

There wasnt a trailer - just the confirmation of the next season - so the speculation will start now! They are going to be looooong months to wait

My questions:

1: Why no explanation of Malcolm's involvement or any appearance in the episode?
2: No twists?
3: Harry selling out ... why?
4: No real exploration of Lucas?

A disgruntled Spooks fan here!!!
