RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion - A Cousin - 07-10-2011 01:26 PM (07-10-2011 05:16 AM)JHyde Wrote: I think it was more that Natalie had the right combination of circumstances - she was clearly lonely and fragile among other things. I also think that it was no casting accident that Natalie and Elena both have red hair. This may have been mentioned by someone already, but upon re-watch of this episode I wonder if there was supposed to be a parallel drawn between Dimitri/Natalie and Harry/Elena? (e.g. Did Harry make the mistake of falling for for honey trap target?) As well as Natalie/Johnny and Elena/Ilya? (e.g. their primary male in their life are kind of psychopathic but passionate about their cause?) If so, I missed it upon first viewing. What at first felt separate now feels very connected to me. In addition, the Dimitri/Natalie scenes have always felt distinctly reminiscent to me. It doesn't look like Julian Holmes put a sepia wash on everything per se but the lighting is very yellow/brown, as if they were pointing to something in the past. If they are connecting all the threats of the week to the main motif like that, I think it is an incredibly cool writing device! As far as the honey-trap is concerned, Calum says that they bumped Dimitri's profile to the top of Natalie's match list. So they stacked the deck in his favor a bit. RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion - DanieLa - 16-10-2011 07:49 PM OH MY GOD! I do not believe you people! You go on and on about Harry and Ruth for YEARS! How can you not be over the moon about this episode? I mean, c'mon, most of you mentioned that scene in the gallery, but nobody made a mention of the fact that Sascha comes in and actually calls Ruth Mrs. Pearce! ![]() And she says nothing. She doesn't deny it. She doesn't correct him. Nothing. It totally made my day! I'm somewhat behind because I recorded all the episodes up to now to watch them one after another... But I'm so happy right now... It's ridiculous. ![]() RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion - loladom - 17-10-2011 04:17 AM (16-10-2011 07:49 PM)DanieLa Wrote: I mean, c'mon, most of you mentioned that scene in the gallery, but nobody made a mention of the fact that Sascha comes in and actually calls Ruth Mrs. Pearce! I missed that entirely! Will have to go rewatch, I didn't react as I didn't see it, are you sure he said that? Off now to find the moment. RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion - Ceridwyn2 - 17-10-2011 06:26 AM He doesn't. He asks, "Where's Pearce?" clearly expecting Harry to have made the meet. Just rewatched that scene. Just rewatched that scene. Yes, I dug the scene out and agree he asks 'Where's Pearce?' RE: Series 10 - Episode 3 Discussion - inveniam - 16-11-2011 01:14 AM The plot was alright, it reminded me of early Spooks and I liked that. Dimitri's plot in this was good, I enjoyed the uncertainty he obviously felt about being a honey trap, and his emotional involvement screwing up his judgement. He'd probably need a stern talking to, so he didn't go off getting so attached and blinded again, but I think he did well enough. Poor Natalie, I really liked her! I was unsure of Sasha's until this episode, but I'm warming to him quite nicely. I don't think Elena is being fully honest with Harry though....I'm really suspicious of her. And I'm not even going into Erin. Her Mary Sue characterisation and background plot, pffft.
