RE: Series 10 Rumours & Speculation - LV R/H - 26-05-2011 05:46 PM

Arn't Kudos doing a good job of deflecting us all from S10 plots.Angel

We're all so busy worrying about if its the last, that I don't think there's been much speculation about the actual plots this year.

Applauds Kudos, doing a good jobSmile

Mind you saying that don't think the press release gave us much to go on this year, not like last year when I think most guessed the Lucas plot, but was expecting a twist, that didn't materialise, lol.Wink

BBC announced new 6 part drama commission for 2012 with kudos as
Producers. So that's hustle replaced. They also announced 3 other drama commissions
All noticeably 6 episodes long. Perhaps this is new policy and therefore no
indication cutting spooks to 6 means last series?

Ok guys got the courage up to twitter sam vincent and say basically that we know he can't tell us if there willl be another series or not but can he say if a decision has been made one way or the other, he twittered this back. - "nope, sorry! I think decisions on recommission are usually made much later in year, when series is transmitting" - So looks like it'll all be down to viewing figures so get everyone you know watching Spooks ha ha. Unfortunately it probably means we get a cliffhanger at the end that may never be answered if they cancel after this series sniff.

RE: Series 10 Rumours & Speculation - loladom - 27-05-2011 08:32 AM

Picking up on this definitive ending thing, the scripts have all been written, read through and they are well into filming. With all other shows where the production company, writers and/or BBC have decided the end is nigh it's been announced in advance. It drums up interest and viewers for the final show. Hustle is an example of this. Decision and announcement made before filming has begun, meaning scripts will reflect this.

SO I think it's safe to say the ending of S10, whatever it is, has already been decided and is irrespective of any decision on recommissioning. Under such circumstances, there is going to be some things left open for the possibility of another season.

RE: Series 10 Rumours & Speculation - Naivety - 27-05-2011 08:48 AM

We had a lot of speculation during series 9 about it being the last one.

I always felt that the end of 9.8 was an afterthought, (I mean the part after Lucas throws himself off the building). We had Ruth's tears which coud have been for Lucas or for Harry or just a general over flowing of emotion. Then we had that hotch potch of a roof top scene with Harry talking into his phone which quite frankly was just a heavily edited version of 9.1's ending. That had to have been created by computer after Kudos knew that series 10 had been commisioned. Otherwise there would have been another Harry and Ruth scene to tie up loose ends.

I do hope if they're going to use that method again, they do it with a bit more elegance. Wouldn't it be better to film two endings?

Hi hi... two endings and people could vote witch ending they want to see... (it has been done to some tv shows... ) well it would be great if they included some additional ending on the s10 dvd extras...

One of these new commissions is also a Spy series, so I'm hoping they're just building on what they know is a winning formula, and not something to replace Spooks. Sad

To be fair to Sam even if he does Know he's probably not allowed to say either way until Kudos say's he can. He's kind of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, us Spooks fans are good at analysing everything, me included, its part of the fun. Yahoo
Good on you for asking Jacko. Smile

I agree two endings would be much better. Smile
I do wonder what they had planned to do, wasn't it said the ending had changed, and PF did say they had been told to wind down the character of Harry. I'm assuming that meant there was some uncertainty, but it did continue and that's always hopeful IMO. Smile

RE: Series 10 Rumours & Speculation - BAUER24 - 27-05-2011 06:31 PM

The new spy series could be taking charcters from spooks and expanding on them.

Season 3 Spoiler:

Eg Tom after he was decomissioned or Zoe after she fled the country.

The ending was changed due to the uncertainty of RA leaving. He hadn't been confirmed for the Hobbit and as I understand it, if they had said no to him, he would have stayed on at Spooks. The reshoots were because a decision was made and the character of Lucas therefore had to be given an exit. PF said he was recalled back in late July to reshoot the ending. So, it's not entirely the fault of the original writing. As to what the other ending would have been, we can only speculate.

LV R/H - interested in where you saw/read that as I must have missed it. I've always understood that Kudos and the writers knew the value of Harry, so who exactly are the "they" being told to wind Harry down?

Reassuringly though, Sam Vincent's tweets seem to indicate Harry is as important in S10 as ever.
