I think this is probably true, most BBc series appear to have shorter runs Hustle/Ashes/ silemt witness are all 6.....plus it makes me more hopefull that there will be another Series....I really dont know why, but it does!!

RE: Series 10 Filming & Behind the Scenes - Forever Secret - 05-01-2011 08:17 PM

All the Series of Ashes are 8 episodes, Wink Not so sure about Hustle and Silent Witness, but most of Kudos show's in the last few years have had 8 episodes per series it seems Wink
But if there are only 6 episodes for Series 10, I'm more hopeful as well that there will be a Series 11,
perhaps just to finish things off,
8 episodes though was a perfect amount of time really though for a series, it can have a running storyline like S7, 8 and 9 and not drag on and on Wink Really in S6 (Which is my least favourite Series) 10 episodes was too much Wink

*sighs*

Not sure where to put this so if it's wrong please put it in the right place and if it's here already Oops I didn't see it.

I saw that the two writers of Spooks Series 9 episodes 1,4,5,6 & 8 are currently working together on the scripts for the Tenth series, I hope they've seen the error of their ways!

Hmmm...very interesting. I saw Johnathan Brackley's agent has this listed. I really liked episodes 1, 4, 5, and 6 of S9. The threat(s) of the week were really good in those.

What I really want to know is if Lachlan McKinnon is producing again?

I agree about the threats of the week being really good in those episodes. Also, I think the dialogue in season 9 in general was a huge improvement on season 8, so hopefully that trend will continue in season 10.

That sounds like good news to me. They seemed on the whole very capable.

RE: Series 10 Filming & Behind the Scenes - Saerwen - 15-01-2011 01:19 PM

These two writers may be capable and I did enjoy the episodes but the point I was trying to make was regarding their view on of the meaning of the word continuity which Wikipedia states Today, maintaining strong plot and character continuity is also a high priority for many writers of long-running television series.

RE: Series 10 Filming & Behind the Scenes - Silktie - 15-01-2011 01:28 PM

Point taken, Saerwen, but the thing is we can't be sure which writers were responsible for the through-line story pertaining to Lucas. These writers may just have done the best within the parameters or storyboard they were given. Nobody really knows who came up with that storyline, so let's be careful how we spread the blame for it.

I'm still hoping they'll concentrate more on strong threat of the week storylines rather than another thread that runs through all the episodes. If that is the case, I have high hopes of season 10.

RE: Series 10 Filming & Behind the Scenes - Saerwen - 15-01-2011 03:27 PM

I also have high hopes for 10 and it wasn't my intention to blame anyone I'm just hoping the continuity will be consistent this time.

Series 10 isn't arriving fast enough for me, withdrawal symptoms are quite unbearable.

Agreed to some extent, but the snappy oneliners and sarcasm that so set Harry and Spooks apart have been missing in the last few seasons, and this needs to go back into the script because they really defined Harry's character. In addition, Ruth's only lines these days seem to be put downs, denials (and screams) She used to have some crackers. She used to also show her brillance. With Ros and Malcom also gone, the dialogue seems to have lost its sharpness. Add in the angst of S9 and its slipping into soap opera terrain (dialogue wise) I don't personally believe the writing on S9 to be Spooks at it's best.
