Has anyone seen the film poster yet? I saw it at the station today. Is it supposed to be Colin Firth? I did think he looked very much like Harry Palmer. You know, the old Michael Cane cold war character.

I still have the Alec Guiness 6hr version sitting on "my pile" from Christmas.

Not sure which poster you're referring to, but if it's the one of the man's face behind the millions of numbers, that's actually Gary Oldman as Smiley.

There are several posters, one for each character, all with the pointillistic gajillions of numbers format. I think its a really cool idea!

Haven't seen any posters out an about yet. Marketing and promo hasn't started in the US. The release date is 9 December - or should I say December 9th? Wink

Interesting BBC article about TTSS. Spoilers if you don't know the plot.

Thanks, TL, that's a very interesting article. I'd be interested to read the biography of le Carre once it's published.

Really really looking forward to it coming out! Thanks for putting the links here Smile

I saw this film today and despite not seeing the original or having read the book, thought it was very good. The atmosphere is very dark, and it's all very well crafted. The cameos are all extremely well done. The George Smiley character is top notch. Kathy Burke is also superb, although she wasn't in it enough for me. Benedict Cumberbatch is great, get's it just right. Colin Firth was disappointing though (reckon he's there for the name).

A Cousin, you are in for a treat!

You, tease, you! Wink I have to wait until December. Thud

But seriously, thank you for your review. Smile

Connie Sachs isn't in the book enough either but what there is there is just *dee-lish*! I was thrilled to hear that Kathy Burke was coming out of acting "retirement" to do it.

Interesting about CF. I am only a marginal fan. I have only liked about 50% of his work. I will say that when he is good, he is very, very good. But everything has to align perfectly for him to get there. IMO, of course. Unlike PF. Who can make brilliance of out complete dross. But I'm a little biased. Angel

And thank you for amusing me while I await my turn to watch 10.1.

Thanks for the review. I was hoping someone on here would see it and post one. I trust my peers on this forum more than the critics. Silba

Glad to hear it was so good. We will probably also only see it in December, sigh...
