An interesting interview with John Le Carre

http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9590000/9590572.stm

Saw the film last week, some of the settings slighty different from the book but some intersting new angles.

One small criticism is that for about the first third of the film George Smily says almost nothing. I know Smily is not a man of a great many words but what he does say is always fluent and to the point. I suppose it built up a tense expectation but after a while I just found it annoying.

A little tid bit from the script-writer re: le Carre's reaction to the new adaptation.

Hah! I liked his comment.

Still waiting patiently for it to arrive in our cinemas.

Yeah, me too actually. It's only in a limited release here is the US - art houses and major markets. Even though I pretty much live in a major market, any of the theaters it is currently playing in are a bit of a haul for me - even for Ciaran Hinds, Mark Strong and Gary Oldman. Angel

Just found out it'll start showing here early March.

March!! Huh Undecided Suicida

That's still a long way away.

Gary Oldman got an Oscar nod in the Best Actor category for this. I'm really happy for him!

I'm looking forward to seeing it. Its been getting very good reviews - 4/5 and 5/5 stars in the local press. Unfortunately, George Clooney will probably win if the GGs are any gauge.
