I'd definately be up for a movie as long as it was British made (no Hollywood pls) and they were able to intelligently bring back some older characters (Tom) back.

Correct.
Excellent support material would be Stella Rimington's novels. Although I would more likely imagine a 2 or 4 hour two-part TV Movie, based on these novels. The TV Movie could introduce Liz Carlyle as a new character, and then combine (or why not, substitute) the books recurrent characters with Spooks' ones.
It could all make forvery good TV...

Oooh yes I love those books. I think Liz Carlyle would fit in very well on the grid Big Grin
And I have always thought the relationship between her and Wetherby is very much like H and R haha Wink
The storylines in the book would definitely make a good movie, even if it was just a 2 part TV feature length one Big Grin

I love Spooks but I don't feel it is big enough to warrant a motion picture treatment. It lacks the permanence of characters in this MI5 show like MI6 has with Bond,
Spoiler: show
with only Harry a regular fixture
. It works well enough as it is. What would it gain from the big-screen treatment? And if (God forbid) Hollywood got their hands on it - out go most of the Brits in favour of a CIA-heavy story since sadly you cannot sell ANYTHING in the States unless it features an American. In fact without the regular CIA characters already prevalent, it probably wouldn't have aired in the USA in the first place...

If it was a major terror disaster that justified the additional time and money spent, it might be good. Then again, if it was just a normal episode, I don't think so. I think part of the problem is that MI5 isn't that good tv. Sure, the action part is, but the paperwork? The weeks of surveillance? They're cut in the episodes, but then again the episodes are a brief glimpse of what happens over a week, month, but rarely a couple of days, so they can skip out the boring part. I don't know if it would work with being shown in double time. Does that make any sense?

P.S. I definitely agree with you Fidget!!! Harry and Ruth would be a must to have in it!

i really agree with youAngelAngel
