NOOO! That scene was sooo cringing! I couldn't stand it.

No, it was fun! I especially loved when she just chucked the thing and then kept right on with what she was doing, not paying any attention to everyone looking at her. Gave an interesting insight into her character.

That shaggy white coat was close to the worst costume ever on Spooks. But then she solved the Homer riddle and that was when I started to think she was my kind of girl.

Yeah, definitely have to agree with that. Although Ruth did have some awful clothes, that white coat took the prize. I can just see the costume people going shopping and having a laugh about it.Wink

I think the costume department just had a laugh when picking Ruth's clothes - she got all the quirky things, whereas normally they had to go for quite stylish clothes for the other people on the Grid.

And the purple eyeshadow!!

Spoiler: show
Well, at least she wears better clothes/make up when she returns! Smile And she has some better clothes in series 4/5...

But I agree, the first couple of episodes were not good in terms of fashion...

RE: Arrival of Ruth - Moonlight - 01-01-2010 02:41 PM

Spoiler: show
I must say, I do think she looks washed out in the blues...

Ruth looks great in reds and purples; I know what thats like as I have sallow skin and dark hair as well! Love her for being so bolshy and not giving a monkeys about what others think.

Spoiler: show
Which is why it seems so wierd later when she is concerned about others laughing at her..unless the bolshiness is meant to be a cover for insecurity.

I was rereading the earlier posts in this thread and found this...

Let's hope Ruth isn't either! Can you imagine the outrage of the fans if they bring Ruth back only to be married/committed to someone else? I can see pitchforks in Kudos' future if that should happen...

Spoiler: show
Unfortunately for Kudos, and for all the HR shippers, she was. Angry Thcussing Still, at least he's dead.Yahoo Wink

Back to Ruth's arrival
Spoiler: show
Her first arrival anyway Tongue

In one sense Ruth is unique in that she's the only person seconded from GCHQ. It seems sort of odd to me - they seem to steal a lot from 6, but they've only taken one person from GCHQ - I thought they would have borrowed other people from there, they'll have been vetted already so it would be relatively easy to get them transferred.

On the subject of Ruth's clothes....have just been watching bits of (I think) series 2 (or is it 3) where she arranges to go to the singing thing in St Martins in the Fields, to "bump into" the man she is wire tapping (if you know what I mean!)..I thought she looked lovely in the dress. Would like her to get rid of the new coat as well but can't see her all dolled up in an Elsie Tanner style coat either -those of you of a certain vintage will know who I mean!
