I know! I was thinking that too! And who's Harry talking to with that large group of people behind him? Why is out in the field, so to speak, or is he out talking to someone else... (Mind you, we are a couple down now, I don't suppose he really has that much choice.)

I think the show will end with Harry finally becoming fed up of being the only honourable defender of the realm, and plotting some anarchic act to bring the whole corrupt lot in the security services down before he goes. He gets Ruth and Malcolm (who secretly helps him from his retirement cottage next to the sea with only his trusty laptop) to help him. Ruth agrees after Harry finally locks them both in a room and refuses to let her leave before they both admit how much they love each other. Lucas takes over from Harry and his first job in charge is to hunt Harry down for what he's done, but he lets Harry and Ruth get away because he secretly agrees with him. Harry and Ruth make their getaway to France, where the final shot is of them getting married in a small chapel, with Malcolm as the only witness.

Hard to think of a good ending. I would prefer a cliffhanger rather than all the ends neatly tied up. Harry proposing to Ruth would keep the fan fic ers happy for years.

It could even be something ambiguous. Like after some huge terrible event putting Harry in danger, Ruth shows up on Harry's doorstep. Series end.
The only problem with that is it's a little like the Murphy's Law ending. Not that they are in any way similar to that couple.
