All I can say is that I'm waiting for some good Lucas/Harry scenes! I've always been fascinated by that relationship......and besides, Lucas deserves a hug from Harry! Big Grin

Interview with RA in The Mail. No new spoilers for season 9, but I like the picture!

This is pure conjecture on my part, but after watching Episode 1 of series 9, I still think Lucas isn't going to survive to the next series. I think Vaughan will somehow force him to betray the others by using Maya as a hostage or bait, and I think he'll die a hero, but I still think he won't make it. There's been too many interviews e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlsH3_a019Q where RA talks of the way he wants the character to die, and if these aren't clues, I don't know what is.

I so hope I'm wrong.

An alternative ending: Lucas tells Harry he's quitting The Grid at the last moment, flies out to Australia, and helps rescue injured fauna (or something) with BoHenley, JHyde, Skully and all the Oz gang. MUCH BETTER IDEA!! Yahoo

Maybe I need to write an Australian movie to get him out here filming!

To be honest, I actually wouldn't be against having Lucas die, I mean, I'll cry forever if it comes to that, but what I fear the most is if they make him a traitor, THAT is the one thing I don't want to see. What I always love about Lucas is that despite the fact he blurs the lines between right and wrong, he's always come through for MI5 and he still retains this unwavering faith and loyalty to Harry. I don't want to see that being taken away.

If Lucas has to die, I want him to die a hero, dying to protect Maya or MI5 or Harry. I want those last moments for him to be between Harry and Lucas, where Lucas finally gets the recognition and trust that he has yearned for forever from Harry. If Lucas has to die, I want him to die in Harry's arms, I want to see them finally showing the deep connection between Harry and Lucas, it's about time we see that bond that they always alluded to but never showed despite their long history.

I too wish that Lucas doesn't die, but if he does, then have him go out a hero, he at least deserves that much after all the crap the writers put him through.

Of course, BravoNine.

Yeah, I agree. My guess (wish?) is that he'll die saving Harry, and that would be a sad but fitting way for Lucas's character to end - true to the last. I also don't want him to be a traitor, but it sounds like Vaughan will manipulate him to do, or to almost do, just that. It's fiction, so let's enjoy the ride.

I can't wait to see RA take Lucas's character through every emotion...before flying out to Australia!

DEFINITELY. I've already started writing it (true, set in Sydney) - just have to really polish it/them and then...Yahoo I have him down for the uber-villain who comes to the fore in the third book. Silba

Mind you, he'd have to say "yes." But let's face it, we have the beaches, the weather, the bushland, the lifestyle (mostly) - how could he resist? And then there's his Welcoming Committee... Silba (stand in line behind me)
