Episode 5.10 [Rewatch]

RE: Episode 5.10 [Rewatch]
Forgive my while I work through this out loud here.

Another aspect to Harry being aware of Adam's mental state that I had forgotten was that Harry orders Adam to TRING in 4.8 and Adam charms a clearance from Diana Jewell at that time. (The only reason I remember this right now is that 4.8 was on the telly last night.) Even after that, Harry is unsure as to whether Adam is ready or not but his hands are tied by the system. I guess it comes down to the expectations on Harry to be both boss and mentor.

In addition, the implication is that Adam keeps seeing Diana Jewell through S5 which is when even she finds him to be unfit but, again, her hands are tied by the system as well. I am glad that she is human enough to betray the patient-doctor confidentiality. The flip side is, like a good servant of the state, she does so for the greater good. What a crap...erm...challenging job being the psychologist for spies gone bad must be!?! Tongue

HellsBells - Ah, yes, handbag! I knew there was another term for it. I try to "translate" when I can but sometimes the words just don't come. I also have a very small Swiss Army knife but that is mine and not the kids'. Just stay away from the Thames barrier! Smile

Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet [Spooks];
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

~Wm. Shakespeare, Hamlet

Haha, you've been handbagged, A Cousin, to quote Angela Wells...

You make some good points re Adam and Harry. I'm wondering, though, if the psychologist isn't duty-bound to report that Adam is unfit for work? Or is she only obligated to do so if the spy in question is referred to her by his commanding officer/boss for an evaluation?

My understanding is that Adam went back to see the psychologist again after Dempsey told him to get help a few episodes back. So did she not report the seriousness of his problems because he came to her in private?

I thought Adam had agree with the psychologist that he was unfit for work and would request a leave of absence, therefore shouldn't the psychologist have followed that up with Harry? That would have been in the best interests of the patient.

Oh yeah, I think you may be right HellsBells. It's been a while since I saw the episode, and someone's borrowed my DVDs, so can't check that, but now you mention it I vaguely remember something like that.

What did people think about the UK and US having a secret plan to profit from the chaos resulting from climate change? It's an interesting issue, and I suspect there may well be a few governments out there with similar type plans.

Probably very selfishly, I hope that the government does at least have some sort of contingency plan if global warming can not be stopped, not necessarily to profit from chaos but a way to deal with the consequences.

RE: Episode 5.10 [Rewatch]
it does seem the psychologist left it up to adam to sort out! but adam being adam seems to me anyway to have said yes to her byt had no intention of letting harry know after all he did hide most of this from the team
