It's like what they say about 24 as well, especially worse with 24 because they have to keep the continuity very tight from hour to hour and it's basically like they are making 12 feature films where it is very easy for the writers to write themselves into a corner. That's probably what happened with Spooks, just like with 24, the writers ran with an idea, painted themselves into a corner, and instead of trying a clever way of getting out with more effort, due to time constraints and probably laziness, they took the easy way out.
