The entry about the five dots is really interesting. I'm wondering if that had its origins in literature or mythology.
The dots also have another meaning: it can also be that one dot is a cop surrounded by criminals. Fascinating irony given that Lucas was MI5 in a Russian prison. You'd have to wonder how many prisoners actually knew who Lucas was - I suspect it wasn't something his interrogators would want broadcast as chances are it would only make him a a target amongst other prisoners. And a really gross piece of trivia - apparently, the distinctive bluish hue that Russian prison tattoos acquire is down to how they are mixed and applied. The ink is often made by burning down the heel of a shoe and then mixing the soot with urine.
