He's supremely naive and exceptionally unlucky if he doesn't suspect something. Elizaveta tried to turn him to work for the FSB, SC - well, the less said about her the better ... I think Maya's playing Lucas - no doubt - and Vaughn would have very carefully chosen the items in that suitcase, knowing that her photo would send him in her direction. Whether he's playing her remains to be seen (fingers crossed for a huge twist!)
