I guess in the UK, it's pretty long time to spend on a TV show, especially one as unpredictable as Spooks. And I certainly don't blame Hermione for wanting to seek out different parts, you never want to be pigeon-holed into one type of character.

To me though, 4 years is nothing on a TV show, I mean lots of actors on US television have stayed on their respective shows for way more than four years. Kiefer Sutherland was on 24 for 8 years, most of the Stargate SG-1 cast was on for 10 years, Numb3rs cast was on for 6 years, NCIS cast are still going on for 8 years, Supernatural and Criminal Minds are going on their 6th year as well, and daytime stars in soap operas have spent as many as over 35 years on one soap opera. So I guess to me, 4 years is really nothing, and considering that US television tends to run much longer (over 20-ish episodes) than UK ones (around 11-ish), it really doesn't compare when it comes to length.

I am really excited for the new series though! I'm already having panic attacks over Lucas's storylines! EEEKKK!
