An actors ability to move back and forth between stage, TV and film is much smoother in the UK, partially because the biz is primarily located in London. This opens up more opportunities for work in general thus more movement between jobs. In the US, while there are exceptions to the rule, for the most part, stage work is in New York and TV/film work is in California with 3000 miles separating them, literally and figuratively.

I believe that the disparity in the pay scale between the mediums is also less wide in the UK than in the US, but I could be wrong about that. When a US actor gets a TV or film gig, they are making a lot more (A LOT MORE) money than they would on stage. It is big news when an TV/film actor plays Broadway in the US where as in the UK, no one blinks.

You're not gonna get any disagreements from me. It was what I was trying to say. US and UK is different.Smile

Which is why I was saying that I viewed Hermione's 4 years on Spooks in a different way. In US, it is not very long when most TV actors stay on for even longer than 4.

Yeah, I never could quite understand why people make big deals with actors from TV go to Broadway, some of the most brilliant and amazing actors that I adore came from Broadway backgrounds and does lots of Broadway shows.Wink I wish these views would change. I like the UK views better.
