LOL! I was just saying the same thing in another thread!!! That hair alone would make anyone run away in terror of people discovering it!!!Wink

Imagine what everyone on the Grid would say!!!! A man's gotta keep his reputation good!Silba

I think they will manage to hide their true feelings at work- they are both dedicated professionals.

I'm still recovering from watching a lovesick Lucas in S8 - not sure I could take any on-grid romance! Maybe Beth and Ruth will fall for each other in the shared flat though?

yeah, not entirely sure why there has to be romance around the gris, specifically Lucas after the last great disaster with an even worse accent, and now with Ruth and Hary's great non-romance.

And didn't sophia myles say her character doesn't get a romance this season? Cant say i'm disappointed with that!

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion
Personally, I like a bit of romance, as long as it doesn't take up the majority of the screentime. That should always be devoted to the threat of the day. I think that was the case in episode 1, actually. We only had two Harry/Ruth scenes that was purely about the relationship. I think sometimes it feels like more time is devoted to that relationship than there really is, because it tends to lead to the most discussions afterwards.

I also think it's good for the survival of the show that it caters for different tastes - from those that watch for the pretty explosions to those that watch for the romance. For the most part, they tend to get the balance right for me.

So if Dimitri calls Lucas 'Sir', what's he going to call Sir Harry once he actually sets foot on the Grid? I have visions of him going 'Yes Sir, Sir' all the time...

I smiled at Dimitri saying that and thought yep your military alright. I don't dislike romance but Ruth and Harry I just don't find realistic since she has been back. Almost as if they are pandering to the fans.

I think this is probably right. Seeing as there are so many fans of the pair, a tiny moment between them gets everywhere and makes it seem like much more. Remember in series 8 when she just touched his hand in that one scene?... blew up everywhere. (Personally that isn't one of my favourite H/R moments. Just felt it lacked something important. Was maybe a little out of character). It was only one small tiny moment though which appeared to be more because of the amount of discussion it got.

As a Spooks fan primarily, (The show comes before my love of Ruth and Harry), i try to keep a broader eye on the episode than just look out for them. Yes it's fun, but it is like you say, just a small part of the show in reality for the most part.

On another note...

I can imagine Dimitri saying 'Sir', a lot too. Wouldn't it be funny if he addressed Harry as "Sir Sir Harry" once for a laugh due to his knighthood. Tongue

RE: Series 9 Episode 1 discussion
Watched ep 1 again tonight. Homed in on Harry drinking the whisky - or rather, not drinking it...he just touched it to his lips. Again, I thought Robert Glenister was amazingly good, and PF wonderfully understated. I quite liked the new HS - they've given him a self-depricating sense of humour, which is nice. (Shame they didn't make the HS a women though - although that might have been a bit too close for comfort.)

I found myself feeling really fed up with both Ruth and Lucas - Lucas was being unreasonably off-ish about whatshername; Ruth turning Harry down annoyed the hell out of me...again.

Oh well, I do hope that I feel less anti the pair of them in the next episode.

"Where's Harry?"
"Moving in mysterious ways."

Well, Lucas is a graduate from the Ros School of Induction after all. At least he didn't Tazer poor Beth. Tongue
I was a little taken aback at the very offhand manner he basically ordered Ruth to let Beth stay in her spare room, though. No wonder Ruth was a little annoyed at that.

The funny thing about that scene is that here I was, hoping for a great Lucas and Ruth scene, and was left, like Ruth, with my mouth hanging open.

No, I was laughing but was mildly disappointed.

I have to say a lot of wish cannot happen because each episode is only hour long. I wish they were 90 minutes
