RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation
Like i've said before though. I'm happy enough with the new writers, but if they fail to wrap up sufficiently in the last episode (however they probably will wrap up most of it) then i may start thinking they should bring in one of the old writers from the first few series armed with a cement mixer and trowl to fill in the p(l)ot holes. Tongue

Then again i'm probably gonna be really happy with it anyway. This season has been really good.

I don't deny that this season has been very good in terms of the level of excitement and how they managed to twist the storylines to this level and drawn in the fans so strongly, and not to mention the brilliant cast of actors finally getting to shine. Like I said, whether I like what's happening to Lucas, there is no doubt that this season has had my heart racing, the unpredictability is up high, and I never felt so drawn in so emotionally.

But I hope to God that they fill in those glaring plot-holes, because if they don't, I'm gonna be one unhappy camper!

I've swallowed A LOT of things in my time as a TV viewer, I've suspended my belief a lot when others didn't, but I would not appreciate the writers taking me for an idiot, or that I have to swallow a retcon of what I loved about Series 7 and 8.

So hopefully they find a good ending to fix it. Or else I will be armed with pitchforks and knives and flamethrowers! They think Lucas going psychotic was a bad thing? They clearly haven't met me!Silba

I don't think that there is going to
Series 9 Spoiler: show
be redemption for Lucas and I think Ruth and harry are going to be ok, but I think the devastating event will be Lucas throwing himself off the building after he meets up with harry. Confused

And why would he throw himself off a building if there is not redemption? I suppose it could always be because he has mental issues or something.....but I'm still in the mind that there is more going on than what we are being shown and told.

Anyways, this storyline has gone completely crazy and sideways that I don't even know what the heck is gonna come next, for all I know, it's a multi-level conspiracy involving Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny!Dodgy

I think this is a good summary of the reason for so much of the angst attached to this plot development. Quite aside from the ??@*!! factor of using (and seemingly undermining) the carefully constructed and subtly shown character of Lucas to make a tired point about whether morality attaches to an action or to the person undertaking the action, there is also the irritation of it being done in such a binary way. Either the many and ludicrous inconsistencies and impossibilities in the story are red herrings and a conscious aspect of the plotting (good, and appropriate for the setting), or they are plot holes of the worst and most lazy kind (bad, and unforgivable in pretty much any narrative setting).

That depends on if the writers want to make the effort of turning things around for Lucas, because I can see a millions ways out for Lucas. If they want to make him evil, then the only way I can see him jumping off is if someone shoves him or shoots him and he falls off, if he is truly evil, he'd have no qualms with taking someone out before he dies, throwing himself off a building would be a rather stupid way of ending things unless he suddenly grows a conscience and wants to end this fight, but that could be considered redemption.

If the writers still want him around, then Lucas can easily still come out of this, but if the writers are lazy or they just want him gone, then this is the end of the road.

Anyways, all this for a girl like Maya is probably beyond my understanding. She has about as interesting a personality as a doorknob or a piece of wood. And her squirrel-facing-incoming-traffic expression really needs to go away. And her doctoring skills are completely ridiculous, if this is how she reacts to life threatening situations, I hate for her to be my doctor!

Well, either way I'm gonna be writing my alternative version of Series 9, at least I can have my own moments of happiness in my story, and personally I like it much better!Wink

Oh I hope you're right about Harry and Ruth Wink

Series 9.8 Spoiler: show
I don't think Lucas would throw himself off the roof, it really depends, I just can't see Lucas a suicidal really, if he fell of the roof I think he would be pushed,or maybe mentally pushed, it could be what Harry says to him that would ever push him to jumping off the building

But why does Lucas still want Albany if he was meant to give it Vaughn, that was the threat against Maya, unless of course Vaughn isn't dead Wink

I'm hoping the writters choose to turn it around, I really don't Lucas to be the bad guy, and I don't think he is at heart, he's just a good man who has made wrong choices...

RE: Series 9 Rumours & Speculation
I have to disagree with the comments on Sarah and Maya.

Lucas always brings his part of the chemistry. The Sarah pairing had him looking like an idiot because she never brought her chemistry, except for a few scared looks toward the end of the season, not enough to figure out why he was so in love with her. Definitely bad acting because any of us put in the vicinity of RA for 20 seconds could bring the chemistry. (Anyone who disagrees, please raise your hand.)

Maya at least shows they have something going, even though she's had limited screen time (thank you writers.) There does need to be a great payoff as to the who-what-when-where and why of her.

Binkie, what do you mean by

Rooftop scene:
Beth and Dmitri sneak up and disarm Lucas, cuff him and lead him away.
Lucas screams, "No Harry please, I'd rather die!"

Harry: "We're sending you to rehab ................. in Texas."

Normally I wouldn't care if Maya was written in such a way, but this storyline supposedly hinges on Lucas/John loving Maya so much, that they have this amazing great love that he would risk everything for her, and I simply don't see what this great love is suppose to be.

At least with Sarah, it was just another relationship, he didn't love her so much that he would risk his home and his job at MI5 to save or side with her.

But supposedly Maya is so important that he would betray his country, his duty, and his friends for, yet I simply just don't see this so called great love.

And I really don't see anything from Maya at all, the only thing I have seen is that she does a great impression of a frightened squirrel!
