I'd just chosen a copy of "Any Human Heart" that didn't have the TV cast on the front, saying to my daughter that I didn't like having TV or film casts on the covers in case it looked like I only read books if I'd liked the film (snobby, I know). I then spotted South Riding with PF on the back. Had to wait until my daughter had left the shop before I bought it. That is so funny! I would have been just the same. And I so agree. Peter Firth is far sexier now than he was when he was younger. |

Lol, I am Yorkshire born and bread, however just like PF I left aged 18 and gingerly return to visit.(Sadly not during the filming of SR which came quite close to my old stomping ground.) I do often fear getting out alive, but that is more due to family, than the region I love the pic Tea Lady, thanks for posting. The fact that PF is so middle and centre gives me hope he has developed the part into a substantial role. (More than the book??) All of the characters remind me so much of family pics of a bygone era. Winifred Holtby is somewhat of a heroine for me thanks to my schooling, so I'm really looking forward to this drama. And yes, Peter certainly seems to have become more appealing as he's aged (even though I am considerably younger than him, I see it and I feel it) |

Yes I agree loladom, the fact he is centre stage in the pic, makes me think this is a fairly decent role for him. Fingers crossed. We can but hope. |

RE: Peter Firth
He looks nice and slim in this photo. A similar one was in the Radio Times a couple of weeks ago but it was teeny weeny.

Ooh, love that picture! And yay for the waistcoat, I did like him wearing them in Spooks as well. The man wears a three-piece suit really well. Hee, with that hat he'd look right at home in Texas.

Can't wait to see it now!
Anyone know when it starts, which channel, etc? "Where's Harry?" "Moving in mysterious ways." |

RE: Peter Firth
South Riding is going to be on BBC1, but they still don't seem to have a start date. There's a link here about it, but don't get too excited - it seems to mention every actor in it other than Peter Firth. I suspect that's not a great sign for the size of the part.

RE: Peter Firth
He's playing Alderman Snaith according to IMDB - should help people reading the book to work out whether his part's very big. Ooh-er missus! (As Peter would say...)
"Where's Harry?" "Moving in mysterious ways." |
