Along the lines of the UK's intellectual property, it would seem that scientists at Cambridge have found a cure for the common cold. Actually what they have isolated is a protein that occurs naturally in cells that attack virus'. If an anti-viral drug based on this protein can be produced, it would act as a kind of booster to the bodies natural defenses.

What the process for patenting research etc is, I do not know. But that is a really, really big deal. It turns everything we thought we knew about how virus' work in the body and how to combat them on its ass.

What about some evil master-mind tries to steal the research? Or the patent for one of these anti-viral drugs? Or they have a super virus that is resistant to this particular protein?

As Harry's "entire career" is under the microscope, I would like to see a good (more than 1) episode retrospective of previous cases, bringing in Ros, Lucas, Adam, Zoe, Jo, Malcolm, Connie, Zaf etc etc and showing us what happened from Harry's perspective. It would be a lazy write as it would mean revisiting old cases (and using old clips in some cases) but some investigation of old black ops etc would be brilliant. Digging through Harry's past would be intriguing and pretty exciting.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, so apologies if it has, but I'd love to see a situation where Harry is suspended and Ruth takes over as head of Section D. Just imagine the sparks in their relationship that would cause!

I'd like to see some of the old sarcasm and humour from Harry that S9 lacked. I loved seeing his emotional side and the depth of his feelings for Ruth, but now he needs to come out of his soul searching phase. The same for Ruth too. She needs to admit she loves the job she does and stop denying what it entails. If it horrified her so much, why didn't she disappear back to Cyprus or alternative? She IS the job. I want to see the fight back in them both - perhaps starting with fighting for Harry's career and then for their own relationship in a non mills and boon way. Acceptance and acknowledgement of who they are, what they do and how they feel. And being on the same side again.

Then they can get on with kicking arse in an electrifying fashion to defend the realm with issues which are topical and have been suggested already - royal wedding, olympics, North Korea, World cup/football corruption. Plus the wikki leaks. Perhaps a UK plot to get us out of the EU? Angel

I'd like more focus on Korea/China/Asia and less on Russia/ME.

More peers of Harry's in 6 or equivalent beyond the grid. Do something with Dimitri and Beth or get a new team. Lucus/John took all focus from them and no, please no return of Lucus. Be he dead or missing, let him stay there. At least Harry's "dumb actions in the name of love" were about a real woman and not some poorly thought out wet fish university fling from 2 decades ago!

I agree that lose ends need tying and I'd like Albany to be a part of something really big...like the pre-warning to some high level corruption, linked in with Vaughn/Dakhar etc. At first Harry is fighting to clear his name as he finds out who is behind it all. His team, including Ruth don't believe him but then slowly come onside and find a new loyalty. I'd ultimately like for Harry to save the day with something so big that no numb skull politician would ever have the gaul to ever question him again. (But that's just dreamland I know)

The Husband and I heard a radio interview with David Rohde and Kristen Mulvihill, a New York Times reporter who was kidnapped in Afghanistan on his way to interview a moderate Taliban commander for a book he was writing and his wife. In the US, the FBI who are the lead agency for kidnappings of American citizens no matter where. Don't know if this is the same in the UK? The potential for a plot like this to tie into the HR "thang" is apparent, I think. But that is for elsewhere. I will let you be the judge.

The whole situation is about as dramatic as dramatic can be:

~They were both in their late 30's having spent their youth concentrating on their careers.
~They had only been married for two months when he was kidnapped.
~They were on opposite sides of the media spectrum: he is a war correspondent for the New York Times, she is a photo editor for Vogue.
~It was the last interview he was going to conduct for the book and he purposefully didn't tell her about it.
~He wrote her a heartbreaking note about what to do in a worse case scenario.
~She had meet with the FBI and to talk to the captors. (Her account of the first meeting with the FBI is kinda funny.)
~The New York Times successfully blacked out the media completely.
~He eventually made a dramatic escape while his captors slept.

You have no idea how much I agree with this quote and I love Lucas, but even I find it all so stupid. Dodgy

I think maybe an episode about the team finding the Wiki-Leaks creator or some similar person? I mean right now there is news of Interpol agents out all over the world on alert looking for the guy, so maybe we can tie that into an MI5 storyline where they are tracking the site creator of a leak or something and have to decide do they let him live or kill him. Kind of a test of morality.

Actually going back to Wikileaks -it seems he is a UK resident? What if the UK/MI5 is tasked with protecting him given the numerous threats to his life coming his way from the CIA/KGB/Mossad etc which will be a real conflict of interests as MI5 & 6 most likely would want to assist in his death.
