) I would say that he is not a romantic - closet or otherwise. He is too grounded in reality and practicality for that. I still like the character definition that PF gives when he says that Harry is a pugilist for the state but he's a lover not a fighter. Everything he does he does, even the horrifically brutal stuff, out of his general affection and regard for others: love for his country, love for his team, love for idea of democracy, love for the greater good, and, in the end, love for Ruth.
