Episode 8 Discussion [rewatch]

I stand by what I said earlier in this thread. I think that the sharp turn the episode makes from farce to tragedy makes it work. Had it not had the awful ending I might agree, but it's bloody sad and stupid what happens. I also love that scene where Fi comes and drags Adam outside and then the set-up for that awful MP who I usually refer to as Wickham. (It's actually Adrian Lukis. He hasn't aged well, has he?)

I also like the contrast between Harry the MI-5 man and Mace the politician. Great moments for two wonderful actors.

Especially given how dark episodes 7, 9 and 10 are, I'm prepared to take this episode for what it is. Even if it is a combination of Lindbergh, Kurt Cobain and Posh'n'Becks. I also love that Malcolm has such taste in music.

I've thought for some time that this really might be the most divisive episode of the lot (Seasons 1-8), so I am really looking forward to some new people chiming in on this one.

Oh and Howard Brenton continues to tell us what disgusting fancy dishes he is into. First salmon mousse (2.5) and now steak tartare with Adam at the end? Ew. No, really, ew. Sounds like Howard went to one too many dinner parties in the early 80s.
